About Your Trip

Step aboard with Captain Max and experience the magic of light tackle fishing in the stunning shallow waters of the Pamlico Sound! Whether you're a seasoned angler or brand new to the sport, this trip offers an authentic and hands-on glimpse into one of North Carolina’s most scenic and productive inshore fisheries.

Captain Max grew up right here on Hatteras Island, where life revolves around the water. From surfing and kitesurfing to fishing and sailing,
he’s spent his life exploring every inch of the sound. Raised in Rodanthe and working at his family’s waterfront campground, Max developed a deep connection to this unique stretch of water—and now he’s ready to share it with you.

On this trip, you’ll be targeting species like Speckled Trout, Red Drum, Bluefish, and Sheepshead using a variety of light tackle techniques including sight casting, popping cork fishing, and bottom fishing. Whether you're casting to a tailing Red in skinny water or working structure for Sheepshead, Max will guide you through each approach and help you make the most of the conditions and opportunities that arise.

You'll be fishing aboard a 21’ Mr. B’s center console, purpose-built for the calm, shallow waters of the sound. This vessel is equipped with a quiet four-stroke Yamaha motor, jack plate, fish finder, and a custom selection of handmade rods paired with high-quality Daiwa spinning reels. It's the perfect setup for navigating backwater flats and creeks while keeping things comfortable for up to 4 guests max.

This trip is all about the experience—exploring the serene waters of the Pamlico, learning new techniques, and soaking in the natural beauty of the Outer Banks. Whether the fish are biting or just being shy, you'll leave with a deeper appreciation for the area and a great day spent on the water.

Bring your sense of adventure and let Captain Max show you what makes Hatteras Island so special—one cast at a time.
