I'm genuinely sorry the fishing didn't work out the way we all hoped. No one wanted to see you catch fish more than I did, and I worked every option I could think of to make it happen. Unfortunately, that's the reality of fishing—some days the fish simply don't cooperate, despite our best efforts. I made every call possible in an attempt to target another species, but it was just one of those days where
nearly every charter boat was given a bad hand. Not just us.
I would like to clarify a couple of points for anyone reading this review. The trip was $800, not $1,000, and I actually kept everyone on the water longer than the scheduled trip at no additional charge because I wanted to give the group every possible opportunity to catch fish.
I understand it's frustrating to come home empty-handed, and I respect that you were disappointed. My goal on every charter is to provide the best experience possible, and while I can guarantee hard work, local knowledge, and giving it everything I've got, I can't guarantee that fish will bite.
I appreciate you giving us the opportunity, and I wish the outcome had been different.
EDIT: I appreciate the clarification, and I don't want to turn this into an ongoing public back-and-forth. However, since my original response was specifically challenged, I do want to clarify that I never intentionally misrepresented the length of the trip. My intention that day was to give your group every opportunity possible, and I stayed focused on doing exactly that.
More importantly, the central point remains unchanged: we worked throughout the trip to find fish and explored every option available based on the conditions that day. Unfortunately, the fishing was extremely difficult for everyone in the area, and despite our efforts, we were unable to get the group on fish.
I completely understand being disappointed with that outcome, and I have never suggested that you shouldn't feel that way. What I do disagree with is the implication that we simply made poor decisions, didn't care about the experience, or collected a fee without making every effort to earn it. Anyone reading this should know that an unsuccessful fishing trip is possible, even with an experienced captain and crew giving their full effort.
I respect your opinion and am sorry the trip wasn't what you hoped for. I believe we have both explained our perspectives, so I will leave it there and let others draw their own conclusions.
