About Your Trip
Get ready to explore the rich, shallow waters of the Matagorda Bay system with Captain Mark, a seasoned local guide who knows these flats, reefs, and backwaters like the back of his hand. Whether you're an early riser looking to chase the sunrise bite or in it for a full day on the water, Captain Mark’s inshore and nearshore fishing trips are the perfect way to experience the best of Texas coastal fishing.
You'll fish
aboard a custom-built 24’ Tran Cat, designed locally and specifically for the area’s shallow water conditions. Powered by a 300 HP Suzuki engine, the boat delivers a smooth, dry ride and gets you to the fish fast. It's equipped with GPS, fishfinder, a wireless trolling motor, a live bait well, and an ice box for drinks—everything you need for a productive and comfortable day on the water.
Depending on the season and trip length, you’ll be targeting Redfish, Spotted Seatrout, Flounder, and Black Drum, with a chance at Tripletail or Sheepshead if conditions are right. Captain Mark specializes in drift fishing and uses a mix of live bait, topwater lures, and a variety of artificial setups to get the job done. He provides all the rods, reels, tackle, and lures you'll need—and will even clean and fillet your catch at the end of the day.
Half-day trips, offered in the morning or afternoon, are ideal for those looking to beat the heat or squeeze in a solid session without committing to a full day. These trips are action-packed and perfect for anglers of all levels, especially families with kids.
If you want to really cover water and dial in on the bite, full-day trips give you eight hours to fish multiple spots throughout the bay system. It’s a great way to increase your odds of landing a cooler full of Texas favorites.
Kids of all ages are welcome, and child-size life jackets are provided. Just be sure to purchase a valid Texas fishing license with a saltwater stamp before the trip. Live shrimp is available for an additional fee if you'd like to upgrade your bait.
Whether you’re chasing your first Redfish or just looking for a relaxing day on the bay, Captain Mark delivers a classic Texas fishing experience—easygoing, well-equipped, and always focused on putting you on the fish.
