If you haven’t given fall bay fishing a try, you are missing out on a fun and fruitful time! Fishing around the oyster beds, breaks, and drop-offs for trout, redfish, or flounder, using MirrOlures, Gulp, or shrimp. For black drum and redfish, fish by the birds. Look for seagulls working and fish will follow. Lots of undersized trout and plenty of slot reds.

Redfish have been most productive on a falling tide. We're finding them coming out of the back marsh. When we're able to get out to the surf it has be lights out. Been using a mix of artificial and live bait.

Great week. September fishing is notorious for being challenging. During the peak of summer the water temperature is at its hottest, lately I have been seeing water temps around 84. Boat traffic is at an all time high, especially on weekends which can also be detrimental to the bite. Hot water & boat traffic are not appealing to trout, they would prefer cooler temps. Due to this then move out deep seeking cooler water. While this may all sound like doom and gloom, fear not! Redfish, Black Drum, Sheephead, Flounder, & Catfish... They still have to eat!

Wading and fishing out of the boat have both been good in east matagorda bay, the flats, back lakes, and reefs are covered in redfish and flounder. Been using mostly lure such as topwater, downsouths, and gulp. Live shrimp and cut bait have been productive as well.

Fishing has been good when the weather is right. Catching redfish drifting over the flats in East Matagorda Bay on live shrimp and lures first thing in the morning. And have been catching trout wading and drifting over reefs throwing croaker and lures as well.

Had my Oilmans group take 1st in the red fish division with a 8.4 pounds and 1st in the triple tail with 24.5 pounder My other groups have been catching steady on shrimp under a popping cork. But the big bites have been coming from wading throwing top waters in the morning and moving out to deeper water in the afternoons
