Wes has been operating boats professionally since 1979 when he joined the USCG. Serving as a Heavy Weather Motor Lifeboat coxswain at several lifesaving stations, Executive Officer on two patrol boats, and as Officer in Charge of the Coast Guard Lifeboat stations in Hatteras and Ocracoke NC, he retired in 1999 as a Senior Chief Boatswains mate. Wes obtained his initial Merchant Marine license in 1993 and is qualified to serve as Master (Captain) on passenger vessels up to 200 tons, including sail and tow boats. After retiring from the Coast Guard, Wes earned his Bachelors and MBA degrees in Virginia and started a second career in local government as the town manager in Louisa, Virginia. Upon his 2nd retirement, Wes started operating charter boats on the Chesapeake Bay doing eco-tourism, crabbing, oystering, fishing, and general boat trips. In 2019 Wes moved his boat and business to lower Delaware and continues to operate boats for cruising, sightseeing, fishing, and other fun things in coastal Maryland and Delaware.

Our family chartered a boat with Wes to fulfill my mom's final wish of having her ashes spread over the ocean she loved near her home in Ocean View, Maryland. Wes made it more beautiful than we ever could have imagined.

From the moment we left the marina, we knew we were in good hands. The boat was comfortable, and Wes took us well past the three-mile mark to find the perfect place. He never rushed us, gave us all the time we needed to say our goodbyes, and treated the moment with genuine kindness and respect.

What stood out even more was how wonderful he was with my mom's three grandchildren, ages 8, 10, and 11. He helped them feel comfortable, included, and part of such an important family moment. Thanks to him, what could have been an overwhelming day became a memory they will cherish for the rest of their lives.

As if the day couldn't have been any more special, we were blessed with calm seas, a breathtaking sunset, and a pod of dolphins that surrounded the boat on the way back to the marina, coming within inches of the sides as they played. It felt truly magical and was the perfect ending to a day of honoring someone we loved so deeply.

We will never forget this experience, and we can't thank Wes enough for his compassion, professionalism, and the care he showed our family. We highly recommend him for any charter service out to sea.
