My name is Jake and I am a 4th generation charter fisherman/hunter on the Outer Banks. My family has made their living out of Oregon Inlet, Nc since the 1940s. I have grown up in the waters on the Outer Banks taking fishing charter and hunting charters as well as spending countless hours on the water in my free time.

I started taking charters when I was 18 and after getting a bachelors degree from North Carolina State, decided to continue in the industry. I have completely restored my boat custom fit for the waters around the Outer Banks so it drafts less than a foot of water but also can handle the heavy chop in the open waters.

I have worked with people my entire childhood into my young adulthood. I am very excited to guide you and your group on a memorable experience in the waters surrounding Roanoke Island all while spreading historical knowledge about the area.

About Your Trip

This trip is offered in the morning hours of the day, typically 6am-12pm. We hunt in various stake blinds around Oregon Inlet. I use a 20’ privateer and work as a one-man show. I will throw decoys out, pick up ducks, and work the birds/dog.

Customers are responsible for their own lodging, however, during the off season on the Outer Banks there is plenty of availability a short drive from the blinds.

I will provide a small breakfast sandwich/wrap I will prepare in the blind. Customers are responsible for bringing drinks they prefer (water, soda, coffee).

This trip provides an opportunity to hunt in Oregon Inlet where there is rich history in duck hunting and where anything is possible. Most hunts are focused on flocks of divers but possibilities are open to geese and puddle ducks as well on the right weather condition. I will have a dog to go fetch the ducks and bring them back. He is my “mate” and has been with me everyday since he started. His name is Banks.

You are expected to bring a gun, steel shot, a signed federal duck stamp, a valid North Carolina hunting license, and adequate clothes. I will provide all decoys and travel from the dock to the blind.
