On the day of your trip, you will be fishing out of Captain Mike's fish out of a 25 foot Epic bay boat powered by a 250 Yamaha.
Throughout spring, summer, and fall Captain Mike likes to target several species that range from Redfish, Speckled Trout, Black Drum, Tripletail, Sheepshead, Flounder, and during certain seasonal months Snapper and Cobia. Starting in early spring he switches his focus on the southern edges of Delacroix working his way north hitting deeper marshes and channels targeting 4 primary species (Redfish, Speckled Trout, Black Drum, and Sheepshead).
As the waters warm up we will move further out chasing the bait. Chasing bait fish from Delacroix to Hopedale to Shell Beach allows him and his clients to get on some great Speckled Trout and Redfish bites. As water temperatures rise the springtime, the action takes him to cleaner waters in search of large schools Speckled Trout and Flounder. Once water temps reach a certain level he likes to go further out to the outer marshes and surrounding areas. This is where he goes to target Bull Reds, Speckled Trout and Tripletail.
As summer gets cranking he likes to spend a lot of time in and around Shell Beach as a lot of fish will move closer to inshore marshes in search of bait. Captain Mike lives on the water and spends a lot of time scouting during his off days searching for baitfish and birds.
The Southeast Louisiana and New Orleans area has the best fishing in the world, and Captain Mike aims to take advantage of every ounce of it. To this end, Captain Mike is out on the water everyday of the year because this is not just a job for him, it's his passion and way of life!...Read More
Captain Mike was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was fortunate to grow up fishing the inshore and off shore waters of Louisiana. He has fished both salt and freshwater his entire life all over the country and in his eyes, one thing is for certain: nothing beats the beautiful pristine waters and marshes of the Sportsman's Paradise!
He spends his winters guiding waterfowl hunters in the duck capital of the world in Arkansas and his spring, summer and fall chasing Redfish, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Snapper, Black Drum or anything that will bite in Louisiana. Captain Mike runs= a family-friendly operation and is committed to making sure you, your friends, family and or clients have a safe, enjoyable and successful fishing experience.
