Some fish are worth losing sleep over. On this overnight offshore adventure, you'll load up and push out up to 180 miles into the Gulf with Captain Donnie, chasing down some of the hardest-fighting, finest-eating species the open ocean has to offer. If knocking bucket-list fish is the goal, this trip was built for it.

The primary target is Yellowfin Tuna on the Midnight Knob, a productive offshore structure sitting roughly 170 miles out. Yellowfin are powerful, relentless fighters, and catching them on the Midnight Knob puts you in some of the most productive deep-water territory around. But the action doesn't stop there. Depending on conditions and what's biting, you'll also have opportunities to go after Swordfish on the drift, chase down Sailfish, or target Marlin and other pelagic species that roam these offshore waters.

What makes this trip worth the run is the strategy behind it. Captain Donnie fishes smart. Yellowfin Tuna spend most of their time deep, feeding on squid far below the surface. They push up and get active in the early morning hours, which is the window Donnie capitalizes on with a targeted troll. Once that bite winds down, the boat shifts to deep-drop drifting for Swordfish, a technique that requires patience and the right setup, both of which Donnie has dialed in. The flexibility to switch between techniques throughout the trip means you're always fishing the most productive method for the conditions in front of you rather than grinding through a slow bite waiting for something to happen.

Captain Donnie's 35-foot Contender is rigged and ready for whatever the offshore puts in front of you. The boat is stocked with premium rods and reels, including electric reels for deep-dropping, plus all the terminal tackle and rigging you'll need for every species on the list. You bring the willingness to put in the work; Donnie brings everything else.

Overnight offshore fishing is a different level of experience. There's something about running out in the dark, watching the water change color as you leave the shelf behind, and arriving on the grounds right as the Tuna start to feed. It's demanding, immersive, and completely worth it. One of the best ways to experience the gulf.

Captain Donnie Jr. is a USCG 50 Ton licensed captain who takes after his father’s tournament style of fishing, bringing that same excitement and competitiveness to each charter he takes out.

Captain Donnie will host you aboard his prized 35-foot Contender center console. Equipped with state of the art fishing equipment and electronics, as well as the necessary safety gear, this vessel is outfitted for offshore success. The Contender is a serious fishing machine for anglers who want to target big fish while retaining considerable comfort and safety for children.

Donnie will take take you on the fishing trip of a lifetime for Yellowfin Tuna, Blackfin Tuna, Swordfish, Red Snapper, Amberjack, Cobia, Mahi Mahi, Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Mako Shark, Wahoo, and much more.

Back at the Venice docks, Captain Donnie and his crew will clean and fillet your catch, so be sure to bring a cooler with ice to transport home safely.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 30 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 30 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

Excellent trip with Captain Donnie! An experience every sportsman needs. Tails Up/Sea Cruiser will be my only go to when fishing out of Venice.
