John Brett is an experienced Lake Texoma fishing guide offering Lake Texoma striper fishing charters. Originally born in Boston, MA, John started fishing for Striped Bass ("Stripers") with his dad when he was six years old, surf casting for cruising stripers from the beaches of Cape Cod.
Occasionally, he would go with a friend to fish Martha's Vineyand and the Atlantic waters surrounding Nantucket Island. Stripers consumed his attention thanks to their strong fight and natural beauty.
In John's teens the family moved to Connecticut where they continued to fish for Stripers in Long Island Sound, Block Island Sound and around Montauk, New York. John purchased a 23' Mako center console and began running Striped Bass fishing charters along the Rhode Island, Connecticut and New York shorelines.
Over the years, John is proud to say his biggest Striper to-date is a 67 pounder caught on live mackerel in Plum Gut in New York waters. Then, 30 years ago a job brought John to the greatest country on Earth, Texas. He already knew about Lake Texoma because he served as the Director of Marketing for Abu Garcia while living in New Jersey.
He spent many weeks on Lake Texoma with the Abu Garcia film team and recalls how he had already regarded Lake Texoma as one of the best Striped Bass fisheries in the world. Lake Texoma Stripers spawn naturally unlike other lakes. After fishing recreationally on Lake Texoma for 16 years, John made the leap into professional guiding year-round.
John loves teaching and watching people catch fish more than he likes catching them himself. His personal best Lake Texoma Striper is 27 pounds and he's always searching for a bigger one!
John is a Coast Guard licensed captain and a licensed guide in Oklahoma and Texas. He is fully insured and has all safety equipment and electronics.

We were on spring break and the weather was not ideal, chilly and rainy. We were told that fishing had been slow for a few weeks but Captain John was ready to give it a try. He definitely got us on the fish - sonar was off the charts. Fish were finicky but we stuck with it. We ended with 6 nice fish over about 4 hours. We didn’t set the world on fire but had a great time and I feel like we beat the odds. Captain John was great with a fun and laid back demeanor, perfect for a gray day on the lake with an 11 and 14 year old. We had a lot of fun. We plan to come back in May with Captain John when the fishing really heats up!
We had a great time on the boat and caught a lot of fish, the Capt. was very knowledgable and excellent at putting us on fish. The boat and equipment were professional quality. We would definitely use their service again.
My 15 y/o son and I wanted to do a quick fishing trip before school started the next week in August. Captain John was quick to respond and provide good advice on whether to take an AM or PM trip (we took the AM after his counsel). We caught 10-12 fish, all of which were over 20”. We started catch and release after the first 4 but was amazed that all our fish were so big. We watched several other fishing tours casting and pulling in 4”-5” fish. None... More
