Captain Jay Nichols of Just Add Water Guide Service offers action-packed Rockport fishing charters year-round.
Born into a family of avid anglers, Captain Jay's fished the inshore Texas water since a very young age. Raised in Galveston before the family moved South when he was 14. Taking after his father, Captain Jay began his fishing career competing in several Bass tournaments, and even guided clients in competition.
With a lifetime's experience under his belt, Captain Jay knows what it takes to provide a fantastic end-to-end fishing experience.
The only thing you'll need to worry about is spotting the first Redfish, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Triple Tail, or whatever other inshore species cross your path. Captain Jay will have you ready to cast as he provides quality Waterloo and Shimano rods, reels, tackle, live bait, and artificial lures.
You'll be fishing aboard Captain Jay's 23’ Shoalwater Catamaran, which offers one of the smoothest-rides around. With a shallow base, she’s suitable for all kinds of shallow water and all types of fishing. Powered by a 200 HP Mercury Pro XP motor, you'll be gliding across the bay system at up to 50 knots.
This fishing vessel features everything you need for a safe and productive day on the water, including all necessary safety gear, a fishfinder, GPS, and a live well to keep your bait fresh.
Captain Jay is passionate about spreading the sport of fishing among young anglers, and he invites you to bring the whole family along!

The low tide, wind, and cold didn’t help our fishing. However, Jay was able to get us on some Sheepshead where we limited out. One of which was a couple inches shy of the state record. Thanks Jay for our amazing trip and sharing your birthday with us. I will be calling him again soon and thereafter

I grew up never being a fan of bay fishing due to having some bad experiences with Captains being rude and giving half ass efforts while on the water. Five years ago or so, some friends convinced my wife and I to go fishing with them in Rockport with this Captain they always raved about, Capt. Jay Nichols. It was all over after he put me on my first Red. I have gone out with Jay numerous times over the years and have had a blast every trip. Even when it’s slow, you will not see many Captains work as hard as he does to try to put his clients on the fish. Remember, it’s fishing, not catching, there are THOSE days, but still worth being on the boat who makes you feel like a friend rather than a client. The selfish part of me didn’t want to write a review cause I go last minute fishing quite often and don’t want him to be completely booked, lol, but he deserves it. Book with Capt. Jay, you won’t regret it!

Jay is not only an experienced and well-versed captain with a great knowledge of the Texas coast but also a pleasure to be around. Having fished for more than 40 years I still learned things I didn’t know about redfish. My wife and I along with another couple took the trip with Jay and all had a great time and cut some very nice reds. We were very impressed especially when he showed us how to use the throats of the redfish which when grilled wrapped in bacon and jalapeño were excellent. I would recommend Jay to anyone from a novice to the experienced fisherman or woman of any age.
