If you're looking to get offshore without spending the whole day on the water, Captain Mike and Captain Josh’s 4–6 hour bottom fishing trips are the perfect way to pack in serious action and fun—especially for families and first-timers. These state water trips take you to productive bottom fishing spots just offshore, where you'll drop lines for a variety of reef species and pelagics depending on the season and length of your trip.

On these outings, you’ll be fishing over natural bottom, wrecks, and reefs that are home to prized Gulf species. The 4-hour trip focuses on nearshore and state water hot spots, with opportunities to hook into Red Snapper (in season), Mangrove Snapper, Vermilion Snapper, Red and Gag Grouper, King Mackerel, and even Amberjack. If you’ve got a little more time to play with, the 6-hour trip gives you the chance to run a bit farther, work deeper structure, and chase down bigger fish—including hefty Red Snapper, Grouper, and Amberjack when they're around.

You’ll head out aboard a reliable 24’ Pathfinder center console—fast, comfortable, and outfitted with all the essentials for a productive day on the water. This boat is equipped with GPS, fishfinder, downriggers, a live bait well, wireless trolling motor, and an ice box to keep your drinks cold and your catch fresh. It holds up to six passengers and offers a great platform for hands-on fishing.

Your trip includes all rods, reels, and tackle, as well as live bait, which is included in the price of the charter. Be sure to ask ahead about the bait situation so you know whether you’ll be catching it yourself or heading out with it ready to go. Fishing licenses for everyone onboard are covered, so you can focus on the fun without any extra paperwork.

These trips are family-friendly and a great way to introduce kids to offshore fishing. Be sure to ask in advance if child-sized life jackets are available—if not, please bring your own. You’re welcome to bring snacks, water, and drinks to keep everyone comfortable throughout the trip. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but please avoid glass bottles and hard liquor. All gear is included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and anything else you might want on the trip.
You're all set! You don't need to buy a license for this trip.
This trip is managed by an outfitter. Mike will be your point of contact and you will go out with one of their guides.
We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).
Cancel for free up to 3 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 3 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.
In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

I want to be honest in this review. we had booked a trip with Mike, and was informed a day before the trip that it would not be with Mike, but it would be with another captain.
the trip was fine. it wasnt great. it wasnt bad. we had nearly a half hour boat ride to get to the spot he wanted to fish and a half hour boat ride to get back. so right there we lost 25% of our time to fish, only leaving 3 hours. we did not fish any other spots. stayed in one place. we caught about a half a dozen fish that we could keep and clean.

there were 6 of us total. 3 dads and 3 boys. the price before any type of tip was $875. Naturally we left a tip bringing the total to $1000. it was a fine trip, but unfortunately, i have to say it was not worth $1000 to fish for three hours off of the Jetty's at shell island. We had a decent time, but it was a little under-whelming.

If they decide the trip needs to be postponed, we'll work closely with you to reschedule or provide a credit for the full deposit, which can be applied to any of our trips in the US and beyond.
Each trip's price is determined by the guide and reflects all associated costs. A significant factor in pricing is often the type of boat and the corresponding fuel expenses. Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
