About Your Trip

Step aboard for a world-class sportfishing experience led by Captain Maikel or Captain Victor—two seasoned captains with over 20 years of local knowledge and a deep-rooted passion for fishing the vibrant waters off Tamarindo, Costa Rica. Whether you’re chasing hard-hitting Yellowfin Tuna, lightning-fast Wahoo, or looking to check a Blue Marlin off your bucket list, these captains know exactly where to take you and how to get you hooked up.

Your journey begins on a
powerful 31’ Island Hopper custom-designed for offshore performance. Thanks to its 12.5-foot beam and cruising speeds of up to 30 knots, you’ll be fishing the famed Continental Shelf just 30 minutes after leaving the dock. The spacious cockpit offers plenty of room to fight your fish, while the flybridge provides shaded views of the Pacific. Down below, there’s a V-berth cabin and private bathroom to ensure a comfortable ride for everyone onboard.

Once you're underway, get ready to experience one of the most productive fisheries in the world. These waters are home to an impressive variety of species, including Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, Roosterfish, Cubera Snapper, Yellowfin Tuna, and Wahoo. If it swims and pulls drag, chances are you'll have a shot at it. Your captain and crew will be rigging up top-quality Shimano reels—30s, 50s, even 80s for the big boys—along with Penn spinning gear, custom rods, and a well-stocked spread of lures to match the conditions.

Fishing techniques include trolling, spinning, jigging, bottom fishing, and both light and heavy tackle setups. Whether you’re an experienced angler or brand new to deep sea fishing, the crew will walk you through every step to ensure you make the most of your time on the water.

Trips are available in half day, ¾ day, or full day formats. On a half day adventure, available from April 15 through December 15, you’ll target nearshore favorites like Snapper, Tuna, Wahoo, and Mahi Mahi. The ¾ day and full day trips give you the time and range to push farther offshore in search of larger pelagic species, including Sailfish and Marlin. Whichever trip you choose, you’ll have the chance to bring home your catch—except for Billfish, which are catch and release only. The crew will clean, fillet, and package your fish onboard, and even point you toward top local restaurants where your fresh catch can be expertly prepared.

You’ll be well taken care of throughout the day with snacks and drinks provided on every trip, and lunch included on all ¾ and full day excursions. A professional first mate is onboard to assist and works hard to keep lines tight and the energy high—tips are greatly appreciated. This trip is also family-friendly with no minimum age, and life vests are provided for all guests.

At the end of the day, what sets this charter apart isn’t just the gear or the boat—it’s the captains themselves. Captain Maikel and Captain Victor are known not only for their fishing expertise, but for their upbeat, easygoing attitude and commitment to making sure every trip is memorable. They love what they do, and it shows in every smile, every bent rod, and every “fish on!” moment.

Come discover the thrill of Costa Rican sportfishing and create unforgettable memories on the water with two of the best captains in Tamarindo. Your next great fishing story starts here.
