About Your Trip

Nestled along Florida’s Nature Coast, Yankeetown is a hidden gem that offers some of the most diverse and action-packed inshore and nearshore fishing opportunities in the state. Whether you're chasing Redfish through winding creeks or sight-casting for Tripletail on the flats, a trip with Captain Mike is your ticket to exploring this uniquely productive stretch of the Gulf.

On these adventures, you'll fish everything from shallow flats and oyster bars to spoil islands, grassy points,
and backcountry creeks—where the fish are biting depends on the season, tide, and weather, but Captain Mike knows just where to go. With light tackle spinning gear in hand, you’ll be casting at a wide variety of species including Redfish, Snook, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Sheepshead, Mangrove Snapper, Spanish Mackerel, Tripletail, Black Drum, Permit, and even Tarpon and Cobia when they’re in the area.

You’ll be fishing from a 21’ Flats Cat—an ideal platform for navigating the shallow backwaters and nearshore zones of Yankeetown. This shallow-draft vessel is designed for comfort and performance, giving you a smooth, dry ride as you hop from oyster bar to creek mouth in search of your next bite. It comfortably fits up to 4 anglers and comes fully equipped with quality rods, reels, live bait, and artificial lures—all provided by Captain Mike.

Half-day trips run about 4 to 5 hours and are perfect for exploring the area’s spoil islands, grassy flats, and river mouths, while full-day trips (6 to 7 hours) give you the time to push further into the Gulf or work a series of productive spots throughout the day. Regardless of the trip length, expect a mix of action and scenery as you fish everything from river systems to nearshore wrecks.

The best part? Your fishing license is covered by the charter, and clean drinking water is provided on board. Just bring non-spray sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, and whatever snacks or drinks you like (beer is okay in moderation—just leave the glass and hard liquor at home). And if you're not sure which fish are in season or what you can keep, Captain Mike will make sure you're up to speed on all the local regulations.

Whether you're an experienced angler or just looking to enjoy a laid-back day on the water with family or friends, Yankeetown delivers big on fish, fun, and Florida charm. Come see why this stretch of the Gulf should be on every angler's radar!

Captain Mike is thorough, calm, knowledgeable, and put us on fish, even though there was marginal tide movement.
He will be our go to guy now for inshore.
