About Your Trip

Head offshore from Montego Bay with Captain Billy for a day of classic Caribbean big game fishing. With an experienced crew that brings more than 40 years of local knowledge, you’ll be fishing some of the most productive waters along Jamaica’s north coast, where deep water lies just minutes from the dock.

Trips depart from the Montego Bay Yacht Club between 7:00 and 7:30 AM, and thanks to the island’s unique underwater geography, lines are
often in the water within five minutes of leaving the marina. The Cayman Trench runs just north of the island, creating quick access to deep offshore waters where pelagic species roam. As you troll the deep blue Caribbean, you’ll also enjoy incredible views of Jamaica’s mountainous coastline in the distance.

Captain Billy specializes in trolling with heavy tackle, the go-to technique for targeting the area’s prized offshore species. Depending on the season and conditions, anglers may have the chance to hook into Mahi Mahi (Dolphin), Wahoo, Barracuda, Sailfish, Blue Marlin, White Marlin, and various Tuna species, along with other pelagic fish that patrol these waters. The crew knows the local hot spots and will work hard to position the boat where the fish are most active.

You’ll be fishing aboard a 38’ Phoenix sportfishing boat that comfortably accommodates up to 8 anglers. The boat is equipped with everything needed for a productive day offshore, including outriggers, a flybridge, a fighting chair, GPS, and an ice box. There’s also a restroom onboard for added comfort during the trip.

All rods, reels, and tackle are included, featuring quality gear from brands like Penn International, Penn Senators, and Shimano. The crew also provides lures and live bait when available, and your fishing licenses are included for the day. A helpful first mate will be onboard to assist with setting lines, clearing rods, and helping anglers land their fish. Tipping the crew for their hard work is customary.

Complimentary snacks and drinks are provided during the trip, and guests are welcome to bring additional refreshments if they’d like. Lunch can also be arranged on request for full-day private charters.

If you land fish during the trip, the crew will clean and fillet the catch, and the day’s catch is typically shared with the crew. Be sure to ask Captain Billy if you have any questions about keeping fish.

These trips run 4 to 8 hours and are suitable for anglers of all experience levels. Families and kids are welcome aboard, making it a great opportunity to introduce younger anglers to offshore fishing in the Caribbean.

With deep water just offshore, experienced local crew, and a wide range of pelagic species in the area, a trip with Captain Billy offers a memorable way to experience big game fishing off Jamaica’s north coast.
