This trip focuses on bottom fishing and trolling for pelagics. Make some memories in Santa Rosa Beach and avoid the traffic by departing right from 30A. With Captain Jon at the helm, you'll have a knowledgeable and experienced guide. Captain Jon hold the 2025 Destin Fishing Rodeo 1st place for Mahi Mahi, and 2024 1st and 2nd Place Yellowfin Tuna.

These waters are known for Yellowfin Tuna, Blackfin Tuna, Wahoo, Red Snapper, Blue Marlin, Vermilion Snapper, Sailfish, Cobia, Swordfish, Tarpon, White Marlin, Scamp Grouper, and more – with any luck, they'll make your reel scream. On these trips, you can expect to troll and bottom fish using Shimano tackle on custom rods. We utilize the best tackle available and our gear is kept in top shape. Captain Jon can also have you kite fishing for Pelagics.

Families making a day of it will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! We have all different size life vests on board. Customers are encouraged to bring snacks to keep up those energy levels!

Your fishing machine for the day is a 38' Fountain center console powered by triple Mercury 350's that can carry up to 6 passengers. It has outriggers, radar, FLIR, liferaft, and all safety equipment needed for a productive day on the water. Your captain will provide rods and reels. We utilize many different methods including live bait and lures.

Captain Jon holds the title of 2024 Destin Fishing Rodeo Captain 1st and 2nd place Yellowfin Tuna. Over 30,000 anglers competed in this years month long Rodeo. We port out of Santa Rosa Beach / 30 A area and also offer departure out of Destin Florida.

"One of my earliest memories was this massive sailfish hanging on the wall in my grandfather's garage. From that moment, I knew I wanted to chase big gamefish in the Gulf."

Capt. Jon has been piloting vessels since he was old enough to walk. "Growing up boating and fishing on Kentucky Lake was such a blessing." Jon's vast boating experience also includes over 25 years as a Captain on (go-fast) boats in Poker Runs all across the United States. This level of speed and changing sea conditions is invaluable experience when on the open water. Captain Jon's fishing experience spans over 45 years.

" It would be a hard choice for me to decide between Yellowfin Tuna fishing the oil rigs and daytime sword fishing. Luckily, we can do both out of Destin, Florida."

Destin's unique location provides anglers with the closest port to access the rich deep blue waters in the Gulf of America. The development of high speed center console vessels now makes it possible to reach the Oil Rigs off the coast of Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi on our 12 to 18 hour trips. You can be fishing alongside vessels that left out of Venice, Louisiana the same morning by 8am. The equipment available to us today make the Gulf of America a lot smaller body of water.

If you were cooking for all your friends what would you cook?

We love making ahi poke tuna and or we like to cook snapper or mahi "Lazy Days Style." There is a restaurant in the Keys and we are lucky enough to have the recipe. It involves saute'ing the fish in a light batter in a key lime butter reduction and serving with parsley and green onions on the top with some more of the key lime butter reduction poured over the dish. The correct way to serve this is "Family Style" with a platter in the middle of the table.

Everything Else to Know

-A good nights rest will make the biggest difference in your trip. We fish hard to get all the experience we can in your short time on the water.
-Hydrate the night before. Have your body ready for a beautiful day in the Florida sun.
-If you have never been offshore, we suggest that you take an over the counter motion sickness medication the night before and again the morning of your trip. We are very adept at keeping this under control and your captain will go over a couple of things the morning of your trip during departure. Your comfort is important to us.
-Your captain will be in touch via phone the day before your trip to answer any last minute questions. Always feel free to call or text.
-Day of your trip:
-Pickup and drop-off is available in both Destin and 30a.
-What to bring:

Frequently Asked Questions

-What time do we leave?
Pickup times will vary depending on the length of charter and our goals for the day.
Your Captain will speak with you directly the day before your trip to coordinate meeting time, location, and any additional needs you may have.

-Do we keep what we catch?
Yes. We will also clean your fish at the dock. We also offer vacuum sealing as an option.

-How much do we tip?
Tipping 20% is customary. You can add to the trip or tip directly with cash, Venmo, or Cashapp.

-Should I tell my Captain if I have any health issues?
The more we know, the better we can make sure you have a great experience and safe trip on the water.

-How should we dress?
Most days a spf sunshirt and shorts work great. Long sleeves is ideal along with an spf face/neck gaiter and hat. Sunglasses and a hat are a must. We fish rain or shine so a rain jacket may be needed. Ask your captain the day before your trip.

-What if it rains or bad weather?
We fish rain or shine. Its very unusual for rain to last long in this part of Florida. In the event the Captain decides to call off your trip due to weather, we will try to reschedule during your visit. In the event we can't reschedule, a trip voucher is available for use within 2 years.

-Do you fish tournaments?
Yes. Please inquire if you are interested in competing in a tournament. All of our anglers are entered into the Destin Fishing Rodeo during the month of October. There are daily and overall prizes in multiple categories and you get to weigh in your fish on the rodeo stage.

-What if we would like to go longer?
If you decide to extend your trip, let your Captain know (additional fee applies). As long as our schedule allows, we are more than happy to extend your trip.

-Do I need a license?
All necessary fishing licenses and permits are included for your trip. We have a maximum capacity of 6 guests.

-Where is the dock for departure?
We leave from Cessna Landing in Santa Rosa Beach.
We also offer pickup in Destin, Florida. Please schedule beforehand.

You're all set! You don't need to buy a license for this trip.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 30 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 30 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

Capt. Jon was knowledgeable, accommodating, and simply first rate. We had a party of 5 with mixed levels of offshore fishing experience. Regardless, we caught plenty of fish and had an outstanding experience, not soon to be forgotten. The team at Captain Experiences made the booking and logistics a breeze. Definitely repeating when we are back at Rosemary Beach, no doubt about it.
