About Your Trip

Get out on the waters of Auckland and the Hauraki Gulf for a lure-focused fishing trip built around staying active, fishing with intention, and making the most of your time on the water.

This isn’t a bait-and-wait setup. The focus is on fishing artificials—using techniques like topwater popping, jigging, and casting to work different parts of the water column. It keeps things engaging throughout the day while avoiding the mess of traditional bait fishing. The
approach is grounded in years of experience, with the crew continuing to refine their program and stay current with what’s working through ongoing research and time on the water.

Depending on conditions and trip length, you may target species like Snapper, Gurnard, John Dory, and Australian Salmon. On longer runs, there can be opportunities to pursue species like Kingfish, Tuna, Marlin, Mahi Mahi, and Hapuka, with the plan always adjusted based on the day’s conditions. Being able to shift techniques and locations is a key part of how this fishery is approached.

You’ll be fishing aboard a 28’ custom-built Westcoaster aluminum boat, designed for both performance and comfort, with space for up to 6 anglers. It’s equipped with quality electronics, including dual Simrad units, multiple transducers, and tuna tubes, giving the crew the tools they need to locate fish and stay on them.

Along the way, it’s common to come across dolphins, whales, and native birdlife, adding to the overall experience.

All fishing gear is included, and no fishing license is required. Fish cleaning can be arranged, and if you’d like to take your catch to a local spot, the crew can point you toward nearby restaurants and breweries that offer catch-and-cook options.

This is a well-rounded, technique-driven trip built on local knowledge, a flexible approach, and consistent time spent on the water.
