About Your Trip

Get out on the waters surrounding Staten Island and New York Harbor with Captain Rudy for a classic Northeast sportfishing experience focused on trophy Striped Bass and a variety of seasonal inshore species. With decades of local experience, these trips are designed to adapt to the season, conditions, and what your group wants to target throughout the day.

Trips are available in 4, 5, and 6-hour formats for up to 6 anglers and are suitable
for both experienced fishermen and families looking to spend time on the water. Kids ages 4 and up are welcome onboard.

The primary focus is often on chasing large Striped Bass using live bunker and light tackle techniques, but depending on the season and conditions, trips may also target Black Seabass, Fluke, Bluefish, Weakfish, Porgies, Tautog, and Triggerfish around local reefs, wrecks, bays, and inshore structure.

Fishing styles may include light tackle fishing, trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, spinning, and handlining depending on the target species and conditions for the day.

You’ll fish aboard a restored 33’ Blackfin sportfishing boat, a longtime staple of the Staten Island fishing scene. Powered by twin Cummins engines, the boat is equipped with extensive electronics and amenities including multiple GPS units, side-scan fishfinder, radar, outriggers, live bait well, air conditioning, kitchen area, refrigerator, multimedia system, flybridge, and enclosed restroom facilities with freshwater sink.

All rods, reels, tackle, bait, lures, fish cleaning, and fishing licenses are included with the trip. The crew also provides live bunker on Striped Bass trips and works hard to keep anglers on productive fish throughout the day.

Whether you’re looking to chase trophy Stripers, jig structure for Seabass, or simply enjoy a day fishing around New York Harbor, Captain Rudy and crew focus on creating a productive and memorable experience on the water.

Captain Rudy has spent more than 50 years fishing the waters surrounding New York Harbor, Staten Island, and the nearby Atlantic coastline. A Brooklyn native, he has dedicated most of his life professionally to fishing and has built a strong reputation around targeting trophy Striped Bass throughout the region.

Before becoming a charter captain, Rudy worked as a commercial Striped Bass fisherman during the 1960s and 70s before earning his captain’s license in 1990. His decades of experience on these
waters give him a deep understanding of seasonal fish movement, productive structure, and local fishing patterns year-round.

Known for adapting trips to fit both experienced anglers and beginners, Captain Rudy enjoys helping guests experience the fishery while keeping the atmosphere relaxed, productive, and family-friendly.

Alongside an experienced crew and mates, his goal is simple: put clients on quality fish and make sure everyone onboard has a great time doing it.
