About Your Trip

Join Captain Ken for a day of fishing on San Francisco Bay, where you'll fish some of the area's productive waters while taking in views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Bay Bridge, and Alcatraz Island.

The primary target on these trips is California Halibut, but the bay is home to a variety of species, and anglers often catch Striped Bass, Sharks, and Stingrays as well. Fishing locations can vary depending on conditions, tides, and where
the fish are holding.

Trips begin at 5:30 AM, giving you an early start on the water. Whether you're an experienced angler or trying fishing for the first time, this trip is suitable for all skill levels. Captain Ken is happy to help anglers learn techniques, rig tackle, and make the most of their time on the bay.

You'll be fishing from a 39' sportfisher equipped for both comfort and fishing. The boat features a SeaKeeper gyro stabilization system, which is designed to reduce boat roll and create a more stable ride. Onboard amenities include a livewell, bait tank, air conditioning, restroom, TV, and radio. The boat's enclosed cabin offers a comfortable place to get out of the wind when needed, while the spacious fishing areas provide plenty of room to fish throughout the day.

All bait, tackle, rods, reels, and fishing gear are provided, so you'll arrive ready to fish. Anglers will need to bring a valid California fishing license, along with any food, drinks, or lunch they'd like for the day. If you'd like to bring alcoholic beverages, canned beer is allowed onboard.

If you're looking to spend a day fishing San Francisco Bay while enjoying some of the area's most recognizable scenery, Captain Ken would be glad to have you aboard.

Independent Guide
Captain Ken is as laid-back as they come, the kind of guide who makes you feel at home the moment you step aboard his 2015 39’ Pursuit Sportfisher. Running trips out of Berkeley, he’s logged countless hours on these waters and loves nothing more than sharing what he’s learned. If you like a captain who talks you through the why—not just the how—he’s your guy.

Ken’s style is equal parts calm and encouraging. Whether you’re trying your first drift for
halibut or fine-tuning your jigging rhythm for striped bass, he’ll walk you through every step with patience and a grin. And when a sturgeon decides to test your grit, he’ll be right there giving tips, cheering you on, and making sure you enjoy every second of the fight.

Using a mix of bottom fishing, trolling, drifting, jigging, and other tried-and-true techniques, Captain Ken puts you in the best position to hook the Bay Area’s favorite species. He believes the only real way to learn is on the water—with good company, good conversation, and plenty of hands-on experience.

Hop aboard and see for yourself.
