If you’ve ever dreamed of coming face-to-face with a shark—without ever stepping on a boat—this is the trip for you. With years of experience targeting apex predators from the sand, Kevin has mastered the art of surf fishing for sharks and big rays, and he’s ready to share the thrill with anglers of all ages and experience levels.

Trips kick off in the evening (after 6PM) and can run deep into the night—or even into sunrise for the hardcore night owls. Whether you’re a seasoned fisherman looking to test your skills from the surf or a family wanting an unforgettable encounter with marine life, Kevin’s got you covered. His friendly, knowledgeable approach makes this trip just as fun as it is educational, and he takes great care to ensure every shark or ray is handled with respect during the catch and release process.

You’ll fish from some of the most scenic beaches along the Eastern Shore, setting out multiple rods rigged with heavy-duty tackle and a variety of fresh baits to attract all the right kind of attention. Once the sun sets and the tide gets moving, it’s game on. Expect to encounter Sandbar (Brown) Sharks, Sand Tigers, Duskies, Spinners, Blacktips, Smoothhound Dogfish, and possibly even Bull and Atlantic Sharpnose Sharks. Skates and massive Stingrays also make frequent appearances, putting up powerful fights in the surf.

This is a hands-on, adrenaline-packed experience—though don’t worry, Kevin and his crew will handle all the media recording and un-hookings, so you can enjoy the action without getting in over your head. All fishing gear and bait are provided, and trips come stocked with beach chairs, ice-cold water, a mosquito-proof enclosure, and even high-quality photos to remember the night. Want to level it up even more? Video add-ons are available too.

Just bring long sleeves, beach pants, sturdy shoes, bug spray, and your sense of adventure. Anglers 16+ will need a Tidal Fishing License for Delaware trips.

The name Catterman comes from my love for catfishing, which in turn has turned into the quest to catch the biggest baddest fish in the ocean. I started this business to show people the correct way to target, and handle sharks. How did you get started guiding?

I used to take yearly camping trips down to the beach in the summer. I'd camp out and shark fish all day and night, until eventually one day I met another vacationer who wanted to give it a try. Long story short, we got to talking and fishing and he asked me to start the business. He felt that I was not only personable, but a great teacher and steward of what I was doing. I found out later that he owned the patent to some major medicines and was a successful businessman. He certainly made the impression. 6+ years now down the road and I couldn't be more grateful. I love being a guide, and getting to know each and every single one of my clients while showing them an amazing time!

What makes you different from other guides?

All fishing gear is included, but we recommend light but long sleeve shirts & pants, beach shoes, and the willingness to get wet so these fish don't need to become dry.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 7 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 7 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.
