About Your Trip

We will head out and usually go through the two mile channel to get some live bait. Triple tail have been known to look at a bait, smell it, then just swim away and disappear. So having live bait as well as other bait options can be a game changer. From there we will go either towards St. George Island or head west towards st. Vincent island. Triple tail tend to hold up on structure, generally in open water. We will look for structures that have typically holds fish on them and will have rods rigged with popping corks and go to work. The rest you’ll have to see for yourself. It’s hard to put into words how much adrenaline rushes through your body when a big triple tail is on the other end of a stick you have in your hands. These fish put up a fight with the best of them, and in my opinion taste better than all of them!

Independent Guide
Captain Allen is a life long resident of Apalachicola. He and his family has been catching, buying and selling seafood from Apalachicola Bay since they used to row out to the oyster bars because the outboard motor had not yet been invented. So to say this bay runs through our veins is an understatement. This bay has provided us with everything we have ever needed or wanted. Both my brother and I are fishing guides and take very seriously our job, which is not simply to take people fishing. It’s to show them where we’re from and why we’re so proud of our little slice of the world. I hope to help preserve its beauty and natural resources for our kids, their kids and future generations. We live in a very special area that you need to experience first hand to understand. We can tell you we beat to our own drum, but you really need to feel the vibrations for yourself to truly understand. So when you visit be sure to get out on the water and wet a line and soak up some sunshine. I wholeheartedly believe that this is one of the greatest places in the world to do so in. The fishing is great too!

How did you get started guiding?
Been fishing this particular bay for as long as I can remember. My brother is a guide, most of my friends are guides. It seemed like that’s what I was mentioning to do. And the Braves didn’t draft me!
What makes you different from other guides?
I put a lot of significance on making the trip as fun as possible and getting to know the people who are on my boat. I like to think I’m easy to talk to and entertaining as well. Paired with the knowledge of almost 43 years knowledge of living in Apalachicola brings, is a good combination I’ve been told. I genuinely love to take people fishing, and when you get on my boat, it will be obvious that I do.

We had a great charter with Allen! He was very knowledgeable, put us in some great spots, and easy to talk to throughout the day. We especially appreciated how kind Allen was to our 10 yr old son and that he took the time to teach him about being on the water during the trip.
