Captain Mike is a United States Coast Guard veteran and has over 35 years of experience navigating and operating vessels on the St. Lawrence River and Great Lakes.

Walleye, Northern Pike, Yellow Perch, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Muskellunge (Musky), and more inhabit these waters,
depending on the time of year.

On the day of your trip you're likely to troll, jig, and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle.

Capt. Michael operates a 20' Deck boat with space for 6 passengers. It comes with gear and essentials necessary for your trip.

Your captain will provide all rods, reels, lures, live bait and gear for your trip.

Before coming aboard be sure to purchase a local fishing license for everyone in your group that is required to have a license. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.

Don't forget to bring bottled water, sunscreen (non-spray), and sunglasses. If you'd like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Independent Guide
Captain Mike is the kind of guide who measures a great day not just by the fish that come up through the hole, but by how much his clients learn and enjoy themselves along the way. With years of experience reading the hardwater of the St. Lawrence River, Mike has developed a deep understanding of the fishery that goes well beyond knowing where the fish are. He knows why they are there, what they respond to, and how to put his clients in the best possible position to find out for themselves.

Mike loves sharing what he knows. Whether you are tagging along while he sets his spread of tip-ups rigged with hand-tied harnesses, picking up the nuances of his jigging technique, or just asking questions throughout the day, Mike is always happy to teach. That generosity of knowledge and genuine enthusiasm for the sport is what keeps his clients coming back to the St. Lawrence winter after winter.

Book a day on the ice with Captain Mike and find out firsthand why experience and passion make all the difference.

Rapid Fire Guide Q & A

What’s the biggest fish you’ve caught?
50 inch Muskellunge (Muskie)
If you were cooking for all your friends what would you cook?
Sportsman's Surf and Turf which would consist of Walleye Louie (fresh walleye baked with a basil, butter, garlic and citrus sauce topped with panko bread crumbs, Smoked Elk Tenderloin (marinated in red wine, Dale's sauce, whorchester sauce, olive oil and Montreal steak seasoning) served with peppers, onions and mushrooms on a bed of rice pilaf and a side of grilled fresh asparagus dressed with rendered bacon fat garnished with freshly shaved Parmesan cheese. With a fresh salad and dinner rolls. Accompanied by red and white wine selections. Followed by Bananas Foster's for dessert. On a side note I was an Executive Chef prior to becoming a Captain and do offer delious shore lunches and dinners with all of my charters when time allows. When I served in the armed forces I had the privilege of cooking for several Admirals and Captains 🇺🇸😋🍽️

How did you get started guiding?
I started running free excursions for military members, disabled veterans, LEO'S, First Responder, children and kids with special needs for free to give back to my community. I utilized my upbringing of being raised in the outdoors on the mighty St. Lawrence River camping on islands, fishing and enjoying water sports. Growing up in the restaurant business taught me how to cook for large groups of people, how to butcher and fish monger. Later joining the United States Coast Guard sharpened my already very good boating skills, along with teaching life saving skills and a vast knowledge and skill set on how to read the weather, ice and water.
What makes you different from other guides?
What sets me apart from others and way I am the number 1 rated Captain in my area is my unique skill set and work ethic. I was born and raised a river rat on the Mighty St. Lawrence River and later served my country on all of the Great Lakes and the SLR to include short stints on both oceans. Which has given me a wealth of knowledge and abilities that most do not have the fortune of getting. I was also raised in the restaurant business, learning every job in the business from the dishwasher to the manager and execute chef and I running a resort restaurant by the age of 16. Which taught me business skills and how to always take care of the customer no matter what. I was raised by middle class hard working parents that are baby boomers, who always worked a second job or side hustle. Teaching the value of work ethic on a daily basis. My life was also enriched by being raised in a religious family, serving as an alter boy in my youth with Sunday breakfast after mass and family dinner every Sunday. Faith, family and friends are everything. I was also raised in a very athletic family, my father, my brother and I all play college hockey along with my sister playing college softball. Sports teach you about commitment, dedication and striving for goals. I later replaced athletics with coaching and spending time fishing and hunting. Coaching my kids through hockey and lacrosse taught me how much I enjoyed teaching others, which I do on every charter. I truly enjoy sharing my knowledge with others and also learning from folks that spend there time with me enjoying mother nature and all she has to offer.
