Join Captain Rhett for a technical, hands-on fishing trip through the shallow marshes, creeks, and flats of the South Carolina Lowcountry. With 4-, 6-, and 8-hour options available, these trips are built around the tides and conditions, with a primary focus on sight fishing for Redfish using fly or light tackle.

Redfish are the star of the show. Rhett will use the tide to determine where to look for them, whether that means quietly poling shallow flats, working oyster points and creek mouths, following grass lines, or looking for tailing fish pushing into flooded marsh grass. When conditions cooperate, you'll often be hunting individual fish before making a carefully placed cast.

Don't worry if you've never picked up a fly rod before. Rhett welcomes beginners and will walk you through the process step by step, from casting and presentation to spotting fish and making the most of your opportunities. Experienced fly anglers can expect a more technical approach built around stalking fish in skinny water and making accurate sight casts. Light spinning tackle is also available if that's your preference.

The 4-hour half day is designed to make the most of a tighter window, focusing on productive nearby areas and the best portion of the tide. The 6-hour trip gives Rhett more flexibility to follow changing water levels, cover additional areas, and spend more time looking for actively feeding fish. With the 8-hour full day, you'll have the most flexibility to work through different stages of the tide and explore more of the Lowcountry fishery.

Redfish are the primary target, but they aren't always the only option. During the right seasons, Rhett may also encounter Cobia around the Broad River or Tarpon around Port Royal Sound. If they're around and the conditions line up, you'll have the option to take advantage of the opportunity.

You'll fish aboard Rhett's Maverick skiff, designed for skinny water and quiet approaches. Trips are ideal for 1–2 anglers, giving everyone plenty of room to cast while allowing Rhett to maneuver through the shallows.

Fly rods and reels, light-tackle spinning gear, flies, lures, leaders, tackle, bottled water, ice, safety equipment, and fishing licenses are all included. Homemade lunch is also included on the 6- and 8-hour trips, while snacks and water are provided on the 4-hour option. You're welcome to bring your own favorite rod or reel as well, and Rhett can help rig it for the conditions.

Launch locations vary between Beaufort, Bluffton, Hilton Head, St. Helena, and Port Royal Sound based on the tides and conditions, with your exact meeting location confirmed before the trip.

These trips are catch and release, with an emphasis on protecting the Lowcountry Redfish fishery. Bring sun protection, non-spray sunscreen, comfortable shoes, and weather-appropriate clothing, and get ready to experience South Carolina's shallow-water fishery one cast at a time.

Captain Rhett is a lifelong outdoorsman and fisherman who grew up on his family farm in South Georgia. About a decade ago, he decided to turn his love of fly fishing into a career, eventually spending six years guiding fly anglers in the Cashiers and Highlands area of Western North Carolina. After a trip to the South Carolina Lowcountry, Rhett knew it was time to trade the drift boat for a skiff and take his guiding career to the salt.

Today, Rhett specializes in fly fishing and light-tackle sight fishing throughout the Lowcountry around Beaufort, Bluffton, Hilton Head, St. Helena, and Port Royal Sound. His primary focus is shallow-water Redfish, using the tides to stalk fish along oyster edges, grass lines, tidal creeks, shallow flats, and flooded grass. During the right seasons and conditions, he can also turn his attention to Cobia and Tarpon.

Rhett welcomes anglers of all ages and experience levels, from someone making their first cast with a fly rod to experienced anglers looking for technical sight-fishing opportunities. He's patient, calm, and enjoys teaching along the way, tailoring each trip to the angler's ability and goals.

You'll fish aboard his Maverick skiff, built for quietly accessing the shallow water where much of this fishery comes alive. Trips are best suited for 1–2 anglers, allowing Rhett to pole into skinny water and give each angler plenty of individual attention. Whether you're throwing flies or fishing light spinning tackle, Rhett's goal is to teach you about this unique fishery while giving you the best opportunities the day's tides and conditions provide.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 3 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 3 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.
