About Your Trip

Leave the crowded nearshore reefs behind and experience one of the most remote, productive, and unspoiled fisheries in the Florida Keys. Our Dry Tortugas trip takes you approximately 70 miles west of Key West into crystal-clear waters surrounding America’s most isolated national park—where the fish are bigger, the pressure is lighter, and the fishing is simply next-level. Departing early from our Key West slip on a fast, stable Invincible center console, you’ll reach structure, wrecks, and hard-bottom areas that see a fraction of the boat traffic closer to home.

You’ll target heavy bottom fish like black grouper, red grouper, gag, and scamp, along with trophy mutton snapper and big yellowtail. Bonus pelagics such as blackfin tuna, kingfish, wahoo, and the occasional cobia or mahi often show up when conditions line up. The action is consistent, and many trips put multiple species in the cooler while hitting bag limits on key fish. We fish a mix of live bait, cut bait, jigs, and slow-pitch techniques depending on what the fish are eating that day.

This charter is fully customizable. Focus purely on putting fish in the box, or mix in a stop at historic Fort Jefferson for a walk through the fort and some snorkeling in the protected marine reserve—it’s your trip. All tackle, bait, ice, and licenses are provided, and your catch is cleaned and bagged at the end of the day. Bring snacks, drinks, non-spray sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, a hat, and weather-appropriate clothing.

The Dry Tortugas is not a casual half-day reef trip. It’s a full commitment to remote, high-quality fishing in one of the last truly special places left in the Keys. If you’re ready for bigger fish, fewer boats, and a day you’ll talk about for years, book your Dry Tortugas charter with Fish Daily and experience the difference 70 miles makes.

Had a fantastic trip with Captain John in July of 2023.

Went for a morning trip on our honeymoon, caught tons of fish, had a lot of fun. John and his first mate were very competent, personable, and provided an excellent experience. The boat was well outfitted, John knew several spots with lots of fish, and gave us more time than we'd paid for.

Captain Steve filled in for John and definitely found the fish including a few sharks and barracuda who liked our fish as well! Continuous action and heading to Pepe’s to have them cook some mutton snapper and yellow jack for us.

Definitely recommend them!

Captain John was awesome! He was super upfront about water conditions and left all the decisions to us. Had a quick backup plan for us since there were 7-9 foot seas offshore. Caught some fish waiting out the weather and then put us on the fish we were after! 10/10 would recommend

We booked with John, but when we arrived John wasn’t there, and he’d arranged for a guy named Steve to take us out. This was a bit of a surprise and not who I’d chosen based on reviews. We’ve been fishing in Key West for several years and this was by far the worst experience we’d ever had. We ended the day with two yellowtails. It was a bit uncomfortable at times because he’d yell and get mad that the fish weren’t biting. Maybe it was an off day but would not recommend and would not go with him again or book with John again bc he may or may not show.
