About Your Trip

Introduce your young angler to bass fishing on one of the country's most exciting fisheries with Captain J.D.!

This 4-hour trip is specifically designed around teaching kids how to fish for Largemouth Bass on the California Delta. Whether your child has never picked up a rod or is already competing at the high school level and dreams of tournament fishing, Captain J.D. will tailor the experience to their skill level and goals.

A successful Delta
tournament angler himself, Captain J.D. loves teaching young fishermen how to approach the water rather than simply putting a rod in their hands. They'll have the opportunity to learn about casting, lure presentation, fish behavior, changing conditions, and how the Delta's tides and abundant cover influence where Largemouth Bass position throughout the day.

The California Delta's maze of sloughs, channels, islands, tules, and submerged vegetation creates an incredible classroom for learning how to bass fish, with the added excitement that every cast has the potential to produce a big Delta Largemouth.

You'll fish aboard Captain J.D.'s 21' Phoenix 721 ProXP bass boat powered by a 250 HP Mercury. The boat is outfitted with Garmin electronics and LiveScope, a wireless trolling motor, and high-end Evergreen rods paired with Daiwa and Shimano reels.

Rods, reels, tackle, lures, and water are provided. All Largemouth Bass are catch and release.

Captain J.D. accommodates up to 2 guests and especially enjoys introducing young anglers to the sport.
