About Your Trip

Spend a full day fishing New York's legendary Salmon River with John, a lifelong angler who has been fishing these waters for more than 30 years. Following in his father's footsteps as a licensed guide, John loves passing along the techniques and local knowledge he's picked up over decades on the river.

Depending on the season, you'll target hard-fighting King and Coho Salmon or turn your attention to Steelhead once the salmon run winds down.
John specializes in fishing the Douglaston Salmon Run (DSR), giving you the chance to pursue some of Lake Ontario's most sought-after migratory fish as they push through the river.

These trips are built for everyone from first-time anglers to seasoned Salmon River fishermen. John will tailor his instruction to your experience level, helping with everything from presentation and technique to fighting and landing these powerful fish. One of his specialties is teaching anglers how to land salmon without a net, adding an extra challenge and an incredibly rewarding finish to the fight.

John provides 10' fly rods with Billy Pate reels along with all necessary flies and tackle. Bottled water and apples are also provided.

You'll need to bring a valid New York fishing license, waders with spiked soles or Korkers, a wading belt, eye protection or polarized sunglasses, weather-appropriate layers, a raincoat, and any additional snacks and drinks you'd like for the day.

When fishing the DSR, John can pick up your passes the day before the trip. DSR access is an additional cost and is not included with the trip.
