About Your Trip

Float the Upper or Lower Madison, Yellowstone, or Gallatin River fishing with Ikaika and his team for an unforgetable fishing trip through the always gorgeous big sky state!

Open to fishing from Saturday of Memorial Day weekend through the first Sunday in November, the Gallatin River is a cold, high-elevation, freestone river with grassy meadows, thick willow banks, pocket water, healthy trout, and little to no crowds. This river won't have as many fish per mile as other rivers closer to Bozeman, but it makes up for this with fish size, incredible scenery and low fishing traffic. Bears and moose have been spotted around here, so be sure to bring some bear spray!

On this 8 hour excursion, Ikaika will float you into the river from one of the Yellowstone Park access points. From here he'll give you some of his expert fishing tips and let you try your luck. Whether you're new to fly fishing or not, Nate is eager to teach and will get some fish on your line!

Regardless of your fishing needs, Ikaika's got you covered. Ikaika will provide all the rods, reels, flies and tippet you need to get out on the water and catch some fish. You will also need to purchase a special Yellowstone National Park fishing license (no state license is required) and pay a $20 entrance fee to get into the park. A hat, sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, and a rain jacket are recommended. Enjoy your day out on the water with Ikaika!

Whether you're based near Missoula, Bozeman, Helena, or Whitefish, Ikaika and his handpicked team of experienced local guides will meet you where the fishing is hot—no matter the river, season, or conditions.

Originally from Reno, Nevada, Ikaika brings a strong mix of professionalism and passion to the water. He holds a USCG Near Coastal Captain’s License and has guided everywhere from Alaska and Wyoming to the legendary freestone rivers of Montana. Most days, you’ll find him on the Missouri River in his jet boat or raft, chasing big trout and sharing his knowledge with anglers of all experience levels.

With a business degree from Gonzaga and an MBA from the University of Nevada, Reno, Ikaika pairs sharp leadership with a laid-back, client-first mindset. His team—which includes Samson, Ben, Aurrora, Mike, Michael, Cody, and Jon—is equally dedicated to helping guests enjoy unforgettable days on the water.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

This trip is managed by an outfitter. Ikaika will be your point of contact and you will go out with one of their guides.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

The deposit for this trip is non-refundable except for weather-related cancellations. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

Once you've paid your deposit at checkout, we'll send you a QR Code boarding pass. Just show your guide your boarding pass on the day of the trip, they'll scan it, the remaining balance will transfer automatically, and you'll be all set to get out there. Just make sure you bring a cash tip for the guide!

In the event of inclement weather, our guides will check the conditions and make the final call on whether its safe to go on the trip. If they decide the trip needs to be postponed, we'll work closely with you to reschedule or provide a credit for the full deposit, which can be applied to any of our trips in the US and beyond.

Each trip's price is determined by the guide and reflects all associated costs. A significant factor in pricing is often the type of boat and the corresponding fuel expenses. Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
