About Your Trip

Get out on the beautiful waters surrounding Montauk with Captain Mike, a Northport, Long Island native and one of the best guides around. On this trip, you'll be chasing everything the inshore East Coast has to offer, including Striped Bass, Black Seabass, Bluefish, Porgy, Flounder, and more. This is also one of the few places where you can catch huge Thresher Sharks in inshore water! These fast, acrobatic sharks are incredible fighters, and Captain Mike specializes in hooking them. Don't miss this opportunity to go after such a wide range of fighting fish, eating fish, and picture-worthy trophies!

Captain Mike knows all the hot spots, and how to put you right on top of your targets. You'll mix it up on this trip, using light-tackle techniques as well as bottomfishing and trolling. Each of these methods is useful for different fish species, so whether you're looking to fill your cooler, catch a personal best, or both, you're in the right place.

On the morning of the trip, you'll go out aboard Captain Mike's 46' Bertram sportfisher, a beautiful boat that's perfect for these kinds of trips. She's powered by twin Detroit engines with a total of 680 horsepower, so you'll be on the fish in a hurry. She's also equipped with all the necessary gear and amenities to give you both a successful and comfortable charter experience. To maximize your time, make sure to bring proper clothing, a hat, polarized sunglasses, and sunscreen!
Captain Al will bring everything you need to reel in a prize, including rods, reels, tackle, and bait. To maximize your experience, bring polarized sunglasses, proper clothing, a hat, sunscreen, and most importantly, your Fishing License. Get ready to have a blast!

Independent Guide
Spending time on and around the water has always been an important part of Captain Mike's life. Growing up in Northport, a small fishing village on Long Island, he spent his childhood fishing, clamming and working on boats. This led to a lifelong passion for the outdoors. As he grew up, he worked on many commercial fishing boats, starting out on the old oyster dredge boats that fished out of Northport. After moving to Alaska to fish for Cod and Pollock, he joined the Navy, where he was stationed in Virginia Beach. This gave him the chance to fish the bountiful waters of the Chesapeake Bay, Virginia, and South Carolina. When he sustained a serious injury to his leg in the first Gulf War, Captain Mike was honorably discharged from the Navy. After that point, he dedicated his life to charter fishing. Mike has lived and worked in Montauk since 2000, working on commercial and charter fishing boats as well as serving local marinas. Now, he wants to share all this experience with you. Book a trip with him to see what Montauk sportfishing is all about!
