About Your Trip

Get offshore and go after some classic big game species with Captain Mike, a Long Island native and a true pro when it comes to finding, hooking, and landing trophy fish! If you've never felt the tug as a Marlin or a big Tuna starts stripping line off your reel, then this offshore trip is for you.

Captain Mike will do everything under the sun to get you where the fish are, but once that
rod starts dipping, its all you! The fish you'll chase on this trip include the best that the Western Atlantic can offer, including Blue Sharks, Mako Sharks, Bluefin and Yellowfin Tuna, and more! These are all tough, hard-fighting species that will test your fishing abilities, so bring your A-game.

On the morning of the trip, you'll go aboard Captain Mike's 46' Bertram sportfisher, a beautiful boat that's perfect for these kinds of trips. She's powered by twin Detroit engines with a total of 680 horsepower, so you'll be on the fish in a hurry. She's also equipped with all the necessary gear and amenities to give you both a successful and comfortable charter experience. To maximize your time, make sure to bring proper clothing, a hat, polarized sunglasses, and sunscreen! Captain Mike will provide everything else you need, including rods, reels, bait, and tackle.

Independent Guide
Spending time on and around the water has always been an important part of Captain Mike's life. Growing up in Northport, a small fishing village on Long Island, he spent his childhood fishing, clamming and working on boats. This led to a lifelong passion for the outdoors. As he grew up, he worked on many commercial fishing boats, starting out on the old oyster dredge boats that fished out of Northport. After moving to Alaska to fish for Cod and Pollock, he joined the Navy, where he was stationed in Virginia Beach. This gave him the chance to fish the bountiful waters of the Chesapeake Bay, Virginia, and South Carolina. When he sustained a serious injury to his leg in the first Gulf War, Captain Mike was honorably discharged from the Navy. After that point, he dedicated his life to charter fishing. Mike has lived and worked in Montauk since 2000, working on commercial and charter fishing boats as well as serving local marinas. Now, he wants to share all this experience with you. Book a trip with him to see what Montauk sportfishing is all about!
