About Your Trip

If you've been looking to do more than just sunbathe in Tavernier, FL, then this trip has your name on it! Get out on the crystal-clear waters of the Florida Keys and bag some absolutely delicious fish with Captain Chris, an experienced angler, great captain, and professional chef! Catch and cook trips available upon request .

On this trip, you'll be going after several different species at the reef or wrecks : from yellowtail snapper, mackerel, yellow jack, African pompano , groupers. Or inshore for snook , tarpon , mangrove snapper or Goliath grouper, lemon sharks and more .

You'll be fishing from Captain Chris' 26' TwinVee catamaran—a fast, comfortable, and extremely stable boat that's great for this area. She's packing twin Suzuki engines with a combined 300 horsepower, so you'll get off the dock in no time. The boat also features a 50-gallon livewell for bait, a hardtop to keep you out of the sun, and a freshwater rinse if you decide to take a swim!
Captain Chris will bring everything else you need for a blue-ribbon day, including rods, reels, bait, and tackle. All you need is sunscreen, a hat, and a pair of polarized sunglasses.

Weather depending, we will fish reefs, wrecks, or on rough days inshore for several different types of species. We mainly target edible species and will clean your fish , and even offer a pack and shipping service if you like. We can also recommend several places that offer cook your catch options or can also set you up a private chef dinner aswell.

How did you get started guiding?

Fishing has always been a big part of life form an early age . My grandfather Papa Jack used to take me fishing in Montauk , and fort Myers’s Florida . I absolutely Loved the Florida fishing and vowed to pick up where we left off. Right out of college moved to naples Florida fished with an inshore guide to learn all I could , and eventually got the opportunity to live in the keys working on a large yacht and sport fish with a great offshore fishing program. Did that for nearly 11 years where I acquired my license, and had the opportunity to fish from Dominican Republic, to bar harbor Maine , and everywhere in between .

What makes you different from other guides?

I absolutely love what I do . As much as I get pumped to catch a fish I really get pumped putting my clients on fish! Additionally I also offer catch and cook options , and free recipes as I also have a culinary background . I’m a generally positive person and truly enjoy every opportunity to share my passion for boating, fishing and cooking with everyone I can .

We had a great full day trip with Captain Chris. Chris really helped my wife with his patience and encouragement fight big fish in deep water and use lighter tackle at the shallower wreck. This was our 3rd trip with Chris that week. While all were memorable, this one ranks with a lifetime best. You can't control the fish, and as always, Chris put in maximum effort.
