Fishing seasons in Everglades National Park vary throughout the year, offering anglers a diverse array of opportunities to target different species based on their migratory patterns and behaviors. The park's subtropical climate creates distinct seasons that influence fish activity and abundance. Generally, the winter months from December to February are prime for targeting species like snook, redfish, and seatrout, as they seek warmer waters in the park's estuaries and mangrove-lined creeks. Winter also sees the arrival of seasonal visitors such as tarpon and sheepshead, providing additional excitement for anglers.

As spring arrives in Everglades National Park, the fishing season kicks into high gear, with warmer temperatures triggering increased fish activity. Spring is an excellent time to target tarpon, which migrate to the park's shallow flats and channels in search of food and warmer waters. Snook and redfish become more active as well, offering anglers plentiful opportunities for sight fishing in the clear, shallow waters. Spring also marks the beginning of the spawning season for many species, making it an exciting time to be on the water and experience the park's vibrant ecosystem.

Summer in Everglades National Park brings both challenges and rewards for anglers. The hot and humid conditions can make fishing uncomfortable at times, but it also presents opportunities to target species like snook, redfish, and tarpon in the early morning and late afternoon when temperatures are cooler. Summer is also prime time for fishing in the park's freshwater areas, where largemouth bass and panfish are abundant. Additionally, the summer months often see an increase in baitfish activity, attracting predators and providing exciting fishing opportunities throughout the park's diverse habitats.

Had an absolute blast with Captain Chris! He was so nice and his passion and love for fishing made my bachelorette trip worthwhile! Our crew got to catch some great mackerel, yellowtail snapper and mutton snapper, plus more! Being able to celebrate my love for fishing and send off in the Keys with my gfs and Chris was the best! He got me on a huge tarpon hook up that I’ll absolutely never forget. Highly highly recommend this trip and we’ll certainly be back!!!

We had a great full day trip with Captain Chris. Chris really helped my wife with his patience and encouragement fight big fish in deep water and use lighter tackle at the shallower wreck. She landed nice yellowtail, yellow jack, mackerel and amberjack. Chris worked hard all day keeping us in fish and rigged as the shark tax was high though the morning. At the end of the day we got great local restaurant recommendations and tips on cooking our catch. Loved the boat playlist! Highly recommend and hope to come back to fish with Chris again.

We truly enjoyed our fly fishing trip with Capt GW. His boat was clean and comfortable and Capt GW was very personable and knowledgeable. We had some tougher conditions with wind that allowed him to give me so much needed help and encouragement on techniques to help my skills. But alas, no adrenaline moments of catching backwater fish, just the adrenaline of trying to make the right cast in the right spot. We saw a great deal of sea life as an addition to the friendly camaraderie, and that was a bonus.

John Paul knew where the fish were and what they wanted to eat. We had a good day on the water with lots of spotted trout, some trevally, and a mangrove snapper. No snook or tarpon this early in the season (late Feb).

Wonderful trip. Wonderful captain. First rate. Gentle but firm with a rookie- just what I wanted. Just what I needed. He would have stayed out longer but my arms, they were jello. Also, incredibly informative about the different fisheries, the environment, the current challenges facing the keys - a joy to watch cast a fly, tie knots and an all-around nice guy - thanks Capt. GW for a first-rate introduction to fly-fishing in the keys. Kind regards, Pete L. (Yarmouth, Maine).

Captain Chris was amazing! He taught everyone how to properly fish and catch fish. We caught plenty of fish even though he said it was a light day. We were pretty excited to get a wide variety of fish including a couple different groupers and some nurse sharks. Hopefully his new term for the nurse shark will follow him on many voyages to come! We all had a great time would totally recommend and would love to come back!
