About Your Trip

Get ready for an epic fishing adventure with Captain Ken as you target two of the most sought-after species in the San Francisco Bay and Delta regions—Sturgeon and Striped Bass. Running from October through February, this trip offers the perfect opportunity to land some big fish during their peak seasons. With over 40 years of experience navigating these waters, Captain Ken knows exactly where to find these prized fish and how to get them biting.

Captain Ken welcomes everyone aboard whether you're a seasoned angler or a first-timer. He’s passionate about making the trip fun and educational, so it's a great way to introduce young anglers to the thrill of reeling in a big one. Plus, Captain Ken provides all the gear you need—top-quality rods, reels, and tackle—so you don’t have to worry about a thing except enjoying the day.

The colder months are prime time for Sturgeon and Striped Bass, two iconic species in the Bay Area. Sturgeon can grow to impressive sizes, sometimes exceeding 6 feet long, giving you the fight of a lifetime. Striped Bass are a blast to catch too, known for their hard strikes and powerful runs. Captain Ken knows all the best spots in the Bay and Delta to target these fish, and he’ll tailor your trip to put you right where the action is.

Your comfort is key on this trip, and Captain Ken's boat has everything you need for a smooth, enjoyable experience—even in the cooler months. Thanks to Seakeeper technology, the boat remains stable and comfortable, reducing roll on choppy days so you can focus on fishing. There’s also a spacious onboard bathroom, making it a great trip for families or anyone who wants to spend a full day out on the water without sacrificing comfort.

Independent Guide
Captain Ken is as laid-back as they come, the kind of guide who makes you feel at home the moment you step aboard his 2015 39’ Pursuit Sportfisher. Running trips out of Berkeley, he’s logged countless hours on these waters and loves nothing more than sharing what he’s learned. If you like a captain who talks you through the why—not just the how—he’s your guy.

Ken’s style is equal parts calm and encouraging. Whether you’re trying your first drift for
halibut or fine-tuning your jigging rhythm for striped bass, he’ll walk you through every step with patience and a grin. And when a sturgeon decides to test your grit, he’ll be right there giving tips, cheering you on, and making sure you enjoy every second of the fight.

Using a mix of bottom fishing, trolling, drifting, jigging, and other tried-and-true techniques, Captain Ken puts you in the best position to hook the Bay Area’s favorite species. He believes the only real way to learn is on the water—with good company, good conversation, and plenty of hands-on experience.

Hop aboard and see for yourself.
