About Your Trip

Get ready to experience the beauty and world-class fishing of Grand Traverse Bay with Captain Tyler! Based in Elk Rapids and Traverse City, Michigan, this stunning 32-mile-long bay, divided into East and West sections, offers a one-of-a-kind fishing experience. With depths reaching up to 620 feet and calm, wind-protected waters, it’s the perfect spot for anglers of all skill levels to reel in some action.

Captain Tyler specializes in two distinct fishing styles to make
the most of these waters. For a relaxing day on the bay, his trolling trips target Lake Trout, Salmon, and Cisco, a delicious fish similar to Whitefish. For those looking to get more involved, he offers jigging and casting trips focused on Lake Trout and Cisco, providing an exciting, hands-on experience perfect for learning and connecting with the sport. Whether you’re reeling in dinner or chasing the thrill of a big bite, Captain Tyler will tailor your trip to suit your goals.

You’ll fish aboard a sleek 2017 Wellcraft 21’ Center Console, powered by a 200 HP 4-stroke engine and outfitted with cutting-edge technology to help locate and hook fish with ease. Designed with both efficiency and comfort in mind, the boat even includes a porta-potty inside the center console for added convenience. Captain Tyler’s unique approach to trailering his boat to different launch points means he can adapt to conditions and meet you at the best location for the day’s fishing—most often on the East Bay, just minutes from the hotels in Traverse City.

Fishing on Grand Traverse Bay is excellent year-round. Lake Trout are available all season and are best caught through trolling. Jigging and casting trips shine from late April through the end of July, while the Salmon run peaks from mid-August through late September. Cisco fishing is ideal from April through mid-June and again in late September through October, making the bay a fantastic destination no matter when you visit.

With his expertise, passion for the water, and dedication to creating memorable experiences, Captain Tyler is the ultimate guide to help you explore the incredible fishing Grand Traverse Bay has to offer. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or a first-timer, you’ll enjoy a fun, action-packed day on the water. Book now and make your next fishing adventure unforgettable!
