About Your Trip

Join Captain Nick for an exciting day of sight casting across the pristine flats of Clearwater. Whether you’re fly fishing or throwing artificial lures, Captain Nick will guide you through some of the best shallow-water spots on the Gulf Coast. With years of experience exploring these waters, he knows how to read the tides, find the fish, and help you make the perfect cast.

On this trip, you’ll work the mangrove edges, sand flats, grass
flats, and oyster bars—prime areas for stalking shallow-water species. Sight casting here is all about timing and precision, and it’s an absolute adrenaline rush. You’ll watch as Redfish tail in the shallows, Snook ambush bait along the mangroves, and Speckled Trout cruise the grass flats. Tarpon are also known to roll through these waters, offering a thrilling shot at one of the most iconic game fish in Florida.

Captain Nick offers a variety of techniques to match your style. If you’re a fly angler, he’ll pole the skiff across the flats, putting you in position for a perfect shot at cruising fish. If you prefer spinning gear, you can throw topwater plugs for explosive strikes or work soft plastics to entice a bite.

You’ll be fishing from a 2025 17’ Pilgrim skiff powered by a quiet 40 HP Yamaha engine. Built for shallow-water fishing, this skiff has a casting platform, livewell, fish finder, and a push pole for silently stalking fish in skinny water. The boat comfortably accommodates up to two anglers, making this trip a personal, hands-on fishing experience.

Captain Nick provides all rods, reels, tackle, and live bait, and you’re welcome to bring your favorite fly rod if you’d like. Feel free to enjoy a cold drink—beer is welcome, but please, no glass containers.

This trip is suitable for anglers of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced sight casters, and Captain Nick is happy to teach you new techniques or help you hone your skills. He also enjoys hosting families and kids, making this a great trip for anyone who wants to experience the thrill of inshore fishing.

Whether you’re targeting a trophy Redfish or hoping for a shot at a rolling Tarpon, Captain Nick’s local knowledge and passion for sight fishing make this a trip to remember.

Had a fantastic morning on the water with Captain Nick!

He is a great guide, coach & company on the water. He knows the waters, and the fish and was patient & encouraging when I had a bad cast or failed to set the hook.

I did manage to land a nice black drum that is on the menu for my in-laws tonight.

I'll be back soon with our three young men!
