Tarpon fishing in Tampa Bay with Captain Nick is an adrenaline-filled challenge that serious anglers won’t want to miss. These powerful fish, known as the “Silver King,” are famous for their explosive strikes, acrobatic leaps, and relentless fights. Unlike other types of fishing, tarpon fishing is more like a hunt—it requires patience, precision, and the right presentation to entice these giants to bite. Captain Nick knows exactly where to find them, whether it’s along the flats, jetties, or nearshore waters of Belleair Bluffs.

You’ll be fishing aboard a 22’ Aquasport bay boat, a sturdy and maneuverable vessel powered by a 200 HP Yamaha engine. This boat is built for navigating shallow flats while still being capable of handling nearshore waters where big tarpon roam. Equipped with quality rods, reels, and all necessary tackle, you’ll have everything needed to go head-to-head with these legendary fish. Live bait is included, and Captain Nick will also have artificial lures and even fly-fishing gear for those who want to take on the challenge with a fly rod.

Since tarpon fishing takes time and strategy, expect to spend a good portion of the trip setting up and positioning baits in front of moving schools. When the moment comes, and a tarpon smashes your bait, be ready for an unforgettable fight. These fish are known for their long, drag-screaming runs and spectacular jumps that will test your skill and endurance.

All experience levels are welcome, and kids can join in on the adventure. Bring sun protection, comfortable clothing, snacks, and drinks. Beer is allowed, but please no glass. There’s also a Bluetooth speaker on board, so you can play your favorite music while waiting for the big one to bite. Cancel for free up to 14 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 14 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

He is a great guide, coach & company on the water. He knows the waters, and the fish and was patient & encouraging when I had a bad cast or failed to set the hook.

I did manage to land a nice black drum that is on the menu for my in-laws tonight.

Punctual with a nice clean boat. Covered a number of different areas focussed on snook or redfish by fly fishing while working around occasional wind and sometimes waiting for the sun to reappear from behind a cloud.
