Picture this: crystal-clear sand flats, lines of giant migrating Tarpon, and you up on the bow with your fly rod in hand. Few things in the world of sport fishing compare to pursuing a Tarpon with a fly rod! These powerful, acrobatic fish are something special, and they'll leave you with an unexplainable emotion that's difficult to put into words. These fish are the top predators in their inshore habitat, and hooking one is the experience of a lifetime. You'll chase bites using purist flyfishing techniques, which are challenging but make the act of hooking a Tarpon all that much better! Tarpon behavior changes depending on the season, the water conditions, and even the phases of the moon, so Captain Tommy's expertise here is absolutely invaluable. He'll make sure you're rigged with the ideal patterns, and has tons of expert advice to improve your presentation, retrieve, and hookset and increase your chances of landing a big fish! The west coast of Florida is a major migration path for the "Silver Kings", due to the bays and riverways along the coast. In fact, several world records have been caught and broken just a short boat ride from where you'll fish, so get out there and throw some lines! Read More

My name is Capt. Gage. We push pole the crystal clear waters of Tarpon Springs and the surrounding waters on my 18’ ankona shadowcast in search red drum, snook, tarpon and all other sorts of fish that we may encounter. We use 9ft fly rods varying from 6wt-11wt depending on species and time of year. A typical day starts out leaving a preplanned selected location on where to launch the boat. From there we will sight fish in crystal clear water in a couple feet or less typically. You will need to have a good pair of polarized sunglasses to help see the fish in the water. All sorts of wild life can be seen on these trips as well from sea turtles, manatees and a variety of birds. Lunch can be brought and kept cold with the on board coolers. There Is a nice twin sitting seat accommodating two people. Fall and spring can always produce great fishing with the change of the seasons. We hope too see you soon! Read More

When you get out there with Captain Tommy, you're in for the ultimate hunt. Whether that's giant tailing Redfish and cruising Snook along a mangrove-covered shoreline, or "gator" Trout laid up in a pothole, you'll be out in it, casting to some of the top gamefish species in America. The Tarpon Springs area and its surrounding estuaries are home to an abundance of fish, including the three above. On this trip, you'll be targeting these species in very shallow, crystal-clear water over grass flats. This is strictly a sight fishing game and is somewhat similar to a spot-and-stalk big game hunt, in which we'll pole over miles of endless flats, looking for fish moving in transition with the tide. With the weather being generally clear and calm, it's a very effective time to present a fly to these hungry fish. This style of fishing will put your angling skills to the test, and is extremely effective when conditions are in your favor. Join Captain Tommy to complete that slam on fly, or just explore a new style of fishing! Read More

Is booking a fishing guide worth the money?

Hiring a guide provides a number of benefits and many choose to book a fishing guide for a combination of experience, local knowledge, convenience, and cost-effectiveness.

Working with experienced fishing guides who know the best local spots and techniques can dramatically increase your odds of a great day. Having someone who is on the water every day and knows the area like the back of their hand is going to give you the best chances of success.

Booking a guide is also more cost effective, especially if you only get out a handful of times per year. When you consider all of the costs you would incur on your own such as the price of a boat, maintenance, insurance, gas, high-quality gear and tackle, repairs, and more, you’ll find that DIY is sometimes not worth the expense.

Even if you’ve got a great setup already in your home waters, booking a guide also provides a great opportunity to experience new techniques, new locations, or even a chance at a new target species to knock off the bucket list.

What month is best for on a fly fishing charter in Belleair Bluffs?

Tyson is a great guide. Has all the local knowledge you expect from a guide. Very friendly and down to earth. He had us on top of tarpon most of the trip! Would go again.

We had a great fishing trip with Captain Wade. I booked our trip for my boyfriend’s 40th birthday for us, and 3 of his friends. Wade had everything we needed and more and provided a fun and laid back experience. We all caught a handful of fish, myself included, who had never fished before. I highly recommend!!

Rachel B. with Wade O. of St. Petersburg, Florida

  • ★★★★★
Did a nice job trying to get us on fish. Hustled his rear off. Seemed a bit overwhelming having 4 on the boat who had never fished the flats before and several being relative novices for just 1 crew member. As a result about 1/3 the time 1-2 of our party weren’t fishing as we could have been. He was working hard though … much appreciated! Would highly recommend a 2nd crew member when there are inexperienced people it will be a tight fit though but think it would improve the experience. Tyson was nice, polite, knowledgeable and very patient thanks for the experience. Would highly recommend especially if you’ve done this type of fishing before. Thanks Tyson!

Craig was great 👍. He told us about the history of the area and went above and beyond to get us fish and show us a good time. The tide and weather was definitely against us but he made the best of it. We had a great time. I appreciated everything and I recommend him for your inshore fishing trip. Thanks again Craig.
