About Your Trip

Chase trophy Smallmouth Bass and elusive Brown Trout on an action-packed summertime adventure along the Muskegon River in Newaygo, MI. Running from May 11th through August 7th, this trip takes you into one of Michigan’s most scenic and dynamic freshwater fisheries during its peak season.

Led by Captain Ryan, this 6-hour river excursion offers a hands-on experience with a variety of fishing techniques, including jigging, trolling, drift fishing, and casting both live bait and artificial
lures. Whether you're looking to sharpen your skills or try something new, Ryan’s approach helps tailor the experience to your comfort and goals on the water.

Set against a backdrop of rolling currents and light whitewater, this stretch of the Muskegon River offers more than just great fishing—it's a fast-paced river adventure with the potential for big bites and memorable moments.

You’ll fish from an 18' Huron custom-built jet boat, designed for agility and stability in shallow, moving water. Built in 2017 and powered by a 115 HP Yamaha engine, this rig provides a comfortable ride with a spacious casting platform and room for three anglers to fish freely at a time.

Morning and afternoon departures are available (7:00 AM and 1:00 PM), giving you the flexibility to fish the bite that best fits your schedule. From aggressive Smallmouth to big, buttery Browns, the variety and opportunity on this river makes for a fun and engaging trip.

Captain Ryan brings a perfect mix of professionalism, passion, and personality to every trip. A 29-year-old Army veteran and lifelong angler, Ryan has logged over 400 successful charters—and it shows. With a boatload of 5-star reviews and a calm, patient approach, he’s just as skilled at putting you on fish as he is at making sure you’re comfortable and confident on the water.

Fishing has been in Ryan’s blood since he was a kid, and today he runs top-tier guided
trips across West Michigan’s finest waters, including the Pere Marquette River, Manistee River, and Hamlin Lake. Whether you're chasing Salmon, Trout, or just looking to enjoy a peaceful day outdoors, Ryan delivers a fun, informative, and memorable experience every time.

Living on the water nearly year-round, Ryan knows these fisheries inside and out—and he’s always happy to share that knowledge. With a professional attitude and a laid-back vibe, you’ll feel like you’re fishing with a buddy who happens to know exactly where to go and what to throw.
