Operating out of Quincy, MA, this 5-hour trip offers a laid-back, family-friendly introduction to bottom fishing, all within the scenic and sheltered waters of one of the East Coast’s most historic harbors.

Fishing has been Captain Tim’s obsession since before he could walk—literally. Raised fishing the trout streams of Central Pennsylvania and vacationing on the shores of Maryland and the Outer Banks, his journey eventually led him to Boston, where he’s been dialing in the Harbor since 2005.

Whether you’re chasing stripers on light tackle or looking to learn the basics of fly fishing, Tim brings patience, experience, and a deep love of the water to every trip. Thousands of anglers—first-timers to
seasoned pros—have joined him over the years, learning new techniques, finding fish, and creating unforgettable memories.

Tim runs a 25’ center console that’s perfectly set up for up to 4 anglers. Outfitted with Lowrance electronics, a live bait tank, and tuna tubes, it’s a dialed-in platform for fishing the historic Boston Harbor and beyond. His goal is simple: help you connect with fish, nature, and the thrill of the catch—no matter your skill level.

I took my wife and two boys on their first open water fishing experience with Captain Tim (Captain Experiences) and it was honestly a terrible experience and a waste of money and time. Captain Tim was generally unfriendly the entire time to the point of being rude. Captain Tim also is not good around children and impatient - my 10 year old, who is not experienced in fishing, was spoken harshly to by Captain Tim when he was unsure how to cast the line. It would've been much better for the Captain to take a moment to teach him instead of berating him.

I had an initial call with Captain Tim the day before the trip and it was clear he was not motivated in helping catch fish with the hope of bringing fish home. In fact, he point blank told me he was a "catch and release" type of person - this is in direct contradiction of what Captain Experiences advertises of helping catch, clean, and bring fish home. I thought about cancelling at that time, but against my better judgment, I was convinced to go on the trip by Captain Experiences management when I called them.

The first 30 minutes of the excursion, Captain Tim literally circled around the docking marina doing absolutely nothing - my only guess was to kill time. We caught two striped bass in 4 hours and each of them we had toss back into the ocean. We barely had time to take photos of the two fish with my boys before Captain Tim threw them back in the water. Also, I saw no evidence of proficiency in the captain knowing where the fish were, that was advertised. Just a terrible experience. My boys said after this fishing excursion that they would never go on something like this again.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend Captain Experiences or Captain Tim - go somewhere else.

Hey Steve, this is Trey with Captain Experiences. We had texted back and forth leading up to your trip and also spoke by phone the day before. Hey Steve, this is Trey with Captain Experiences.

We had texted back and forth leading up to your trip and also spoke by phone the day before. Massachusetts currently has very strict striped bass regulations: anglers can keep one striped bass per person per day, and it must be at least 28” but less than 31”. Fish outside that slot have to be released by law, so unfortunately, a lot of the striped bass being
caught right now are catch-and-release.

I’m sorry Tim didn’t feel like a good fit for your family. We’ll definitely pass that feedback along.

I’m glad we were able to stay connected throughout the experience, and I hope we have the opportunity to provide you and your family with a much better trip next time!

Captain Tim is a great guide that really cares about getting you a chance to reel in Stripers. He was excellent at knowing where to find the fish and constantly moving to more active spots. It was fun reeling in the fish after he had them on the hook. If you want to handle more of the work make sure you let him know so he coaches you, otherwise he will...
