About Your Trip

Step aboard with Captain Andrew for a relaxed and easygoing floating trip designed for anglers who want a simple, hands-on day on the water. This is a laid back fishing experience where the focus is on dropping lines, jigging, and soaking bait over productive bottom structure rather than casting or chasing fast-moving fish. It is an approachable trip that keeps things straightforward while still offering steady action and a chance at quality catches.

You’ll be fishing offshore and nearshore bottom areas where a variety of cold-water species gather depending on the season. Common catches include haddock, cod, cunner, pollock, and sculpin, all of which respond well to jigging and bait presentations near the seabed. Haddock and cod are seasonal, with a limited window where regulations allow harvest, making those bites especially rewarding when conditions line up. Other species provide consistent action throughout the trip, keeping rods active and anglers engaged.

The fishing style is simple and accessible. Lines are dropped straight down to the bottom, and fish are brought up with steady jigging or bait soaking techniques. There is no casting required, making this an ideal option for beginners, families, or anyone who prefers a more relaxed pace on the water. The emphasis is on enjoying the experience, learning the basics of bottom fishing, and spending time on the water in a calm, low-pressure setting.

Captain Andrew keeps the trip organized and approachable, helping guests with baiting hooks, dropping lines, and bringing fish aboard. The setup is designed to be comfortable and straightforward, allowing everyone to participate regardless of experience level. While this is not a high-intensity offshore trip, it still delivers real fishing opportunities and the excitement of pulling up fish from the bottom.

Fish can be kept within legal limits, offering the chance to bring home fresh catches when conditions allow. Limited filleting is provided, keeping the focus on the on-the-water experience itself rather than post-trip processing.

This is a great option for families, first-time anglers, or anyone looking for a calm day on the water with steady bottom fishing and a relaxed coastal atmosphere.

Independent Guide

A lifelong angler with an affinity to the ocean. I’ve fished the New Meadows water shed in Phippsburg Maine for over twenty years offering a Knowledge of the area and unique fishing style to hunt and catch the striped bass, bluefish and various smaller fish of the area. We are catch and release preferred unless you do wish to keep that one within the limits for supper! Fly fishing or spin casting lures, the time on the water is what I cherish most and wish to share with all welcome on board! Music is also encouraged since fish love music unless of course we are sneaking up on them. Keep casting and hope to see you there! Cheers
