About Your Trip

Get ready for a thrilling 5- to 7-hour run on the legendary waters of Lake Michigan with Captain Don at the helm! Departing from Benton Harbor, this action-packed trip is designed for anglers of all experience levels—from first-timers to seasoned pros—looking to chase down trophy Salmon and Trout in style. Whether you're heading out at sunrise or opting for an afternoon adventure, Captain Don’s got everything covered for an unforgettable day on the lake.

Your
ride for the day is a spacious and well-appointed 36’ Tiara Sportfisher, powered by twin Crusader 8.1 engines pushing out a combined 970 HP. Built for both comfort and performance, this vessel is fully equipped with all the amenities you could ask for, including a GPS, fishfinder, radar, kitchen, refrigerator, ice box, and even a heater for those crisp Michigan mornings. There's also a private restroom onboard—perfect for longer outings and family-friendly convenience.

During the trip, you'll be trolling with artificial lures using a setup of planing boards, downriggers, and heavy weighted lines. The targeted lineup includes some of the Midwest’s most prized species—Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon, Lake Trout, and Steelhead—all known for their fierce fights and high-flying runs. Captain Don uses a mix of light and heavy tackle to tailor the experience to the conditions and your skill level, making every hookup an adrenaline-pumping challenge.

These trips typically run dock-to-dock for five hours, or until your group reaches its legal limit of fish. And if you’re planning to double up on the fun, Captain Don offers discounted rates when booking consecutive half-day trips as a split full-day—perfect for groups looking to make the most of their time on the water.

Kids aged six and up are welcome aboard (just bring a child-size life jacket), and adult guests are welcome to crack open a cold one—just leave the glass bottles at home. Want to set the vibe? Feel free to stream your favorite tunes via Bluetooth while cruising between spots.

Captain Don provides all rods, reels, tackle, and expert guidance you’ll need. At the end of the day, he’ll even clean your catch so you can take home fresh filets, ready for the grill.

So whether you're looking for a laid-back outing or an all-out hunt for lake monsters, this Benton Harbor trip delivers the full package—big fish, great company, and a top-tier fishing vessel. Book your spot and get ready to reel ‘em in!

Captain Don is an avid fisherman and outdoorsman who became a captain in 2018 in order to share his life-long passion of Great Lakes fishing for Salmon and Trout with others. I grew up fishing walleye on Lake Erie and Saginaw Bay. In 2004 I decided to go to St Joseph and start salmon fishing. After that I was hooked. I bought my first boat for salmon fishing in 2005. In 2018 I started charter fishing. That’s when I met my co-captain Bob Clark. He had been fishing the St Joseph area most of his life. So we started charting together.

In 2011 I purchased the boat that we now have 36 foot long and 14 foot wide Tiara 3600. It’s a fish catching machine. With captain Bob at the helm and me in the back setting lines and catching fish we make a great team. We really enjoy the service that we give people and that the memories they get to share with other people.

Fishing on Lake, Michigan is the best adventure you’ll ever have. I love the joy of making memories for young people and first timers. It’s something they never forget.
