About Your Trip

Get ready for nonstop action on Captain Bill’s most requested trip — the midshore tuna run! This adventure takes you up to 65 miles offshore to the heart of some of the Northeast’s most productive fishing grounds. With an expert crew, top-tier equipment, and a serious shot at Bluefin, Yellowfin, and Mahi, this trip offers everything you want in a deep sea experience — without the full canyon run.

You'll be fishing aboard Captain Bill’s
incredibly capable 28’6” Southport center console — one of the widest and most stable boats in its class thanks to a massive 10’6” beam. This boat doesn’t just ride smooth — it flies. With a fast 1.5 to 2.5-hour ride to the grounds, you'll maximize your fishing time without sacrificing comfort. Outfitted with a brand-new Garmin electronics suite, outriggers, and a private toilet onboard, this vessel is built for performance and convenience. With space for up to 4 anglers and a professional First Mate onboard, you’re set up for a smooth and action-packed day.

Once you hit the midshore grounds, it’s time to put lines in the water and get to work. You’ll troll for reaction bites, chunk bait to draw fish in close, drop jigs to the depths, and pop the surface for explosive strikes. Target species include Bluefin Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, and Mahi Mahi — each one known for blistering runs and hard-fought battles.

Captain Bill outfits the boat with top-of-the-line Penn and Shimano rods and reels, along with lures and gear from trusted names like Sterling Tackle. Your fishing license is covered, so all you need to bring is your sunblock (non-spray preferred), sunglasses, a hat, bottled water, and any snacks or drinks you love. Alcohol is allowed in moderation — just no hard liquor or glass bottles, please.

A professional First Mate will be onboard to assist with everything from rigging lines to handling fish. Tipping the Mate 15–20% is customary and always appreciated for their hard work.

This trip typically returns to the dock around 2:30pm and offers a perfect balance of high-energy fishing and a manageable day on the water. If you’re chasing the thrill of tuna without heading all the way to the edge, this is the trip for you. Let’s go fishing!

Meet Captain Bill—a lifelong New Jersey angler whose passion began with childhood fishing trips alongside his grandfathers in Beach Haven West and Raritan Bay. Those early days crabbing, bluefishing, and chasing fluke sparked a love for the water that never faded. After his grandfather passed, Bill and his father carried on the tradition—eventually venturing offshore, where Bill became fully hooked on tuna fishing.

Today, he brings that same enthusiasm to every charter, whether targeting fluke, black seabass, or big offshore
pelagics. Bill loves teaching, explaining techniques, and creating memorable experiences for anglers of all ages and skill levels.
