About Your Trip

The flats and nearshore waters around Spring Hill fish differently as the day progresses, and Captain Tim's afternoon trip puts you on the water during a window that can produce some of the best action of the day. Running a 22-foot bay boat built for the Nature Coast shallows, Tim targets the same diverse spread of species that makes this fishery worth coming back to: redfish, snook, speckled trout, sheepshead, black drum, mangrove snapper, tarpon, sharks, and more.

The Nature Coast is defined by its grass flats, oyster bars, and tidal creeks, all of which hold fish year-round and reward anglers who understand the water. Redfish and speckled trout cruise the flats as tides move through the afternoon, while snook tuck into mangrove edges and shaded structure waiting for bait to come to them. Sheepshead and black drum work the hard bottom and pilings, and when tarpon are in the area, an afternoon encounter with one of these fish is something you won't forget.

Afternoon light brings its own advantages on the flats, with late tidal movement often triggering feeding activity that carries right into the evening hours. Depending on weather, travel, and how the bite is running, your outing will run four to five hours.

Coolers of a reasonable size are welcome aboard, or Captain Tim can provide cooler space with plenty of ice if you give him a heads up ahead of time. Bring whatever food, drinks, and sunscreen you need for the afternoon and come ready to fish.

Book an afternoon trip with Captain Tim out of Spring Hill and spend a few hours on one of Florida's most productive inshore coastlines.
