At age 35, Captain Rudy Solano has been fishing over half of his life with 25 years of experience. When he was young his Dad (Rafa Solano Sr.) said to him “If you don’t want to do good at school then you better learn to fish!” and that he did. By age 16, Rudy was driving a Twin Engine Boat for his Dad and the rest is history!
Since then, Rudy has enjoyed countless highlights including catching the biggest fish he ever released, a 1,200 pound Black Marlin.
Rudy has been the Captain on the MoonWalker and served as part of the Fuhgeddaboudit Sportfishing Fleet for 4 years. He is very proud of the fact that they are the most booked Quepos fishing charter boat and Crew in Marina Pez Vela.
Captain Rudy has a renowned reputation as the Sushi Captain, always being the one to find and bring aboard the Yellowfin Tuna. He is excited to also have the 38’ Bertram in the Quepos fishing fleet now and looks forward to captaining your next Costa Fishing fishing charters experience!

How do you spell epic in Spanish? We spell it Quepos Fishing! My family of six very inexperienced salt-water fishermen (this was our first salt-water fishing trip), spent an amazing day offshore with the crew of the Moonwalker. Captain Marcos, Rudy & Jose worked tirelessly to make our special day on the blue water one we will remember forever. We caught blue marlin, beautiful mahi-mahi, and finished our day with an onslaught of yellow-fin tuna while watching the dolphins feeding and frolicking right next to the boat. The crew was friendly, professional and accommodating. With a freezer full of fish and heads full of memories we watched the sun set as Captain Marcos pointed the bow toward Marina Pez Vela. We’re gringos from the mountains of Colorado. We know very little about rain forests or oceans or the Costa Rican way of life, but at the end of this day there was only one thing to say, “Pura Vida.”

Full day offshore w/ Captain Rudy. We had an outstanding day! Captain and crew were totally focused on finding fish ... 2 Tuna, 3 El Dorado, and a really nice sailfish. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Costa Rica and looking for a memorable day.

We headed out to sea by 7:30. A very comfortable boat. The hands were attentive, friendly and professional. 4 sails and one marlin. Plenty of refreshments and a very tasty lunch. The captain was always on the lookout for gamefish and we covered a large territory. Captain Rudy, Johnny and Danny made a great team. We hope to fish with them again.
