Snook fishing has been excellent all summer, and I’ve been finding them in a variety of locations, from the passes and beaches to areas with strong current and structure. Snook sight fishing in Marco Island is one of my favorite ways to target these fish because you can often see them cruising the shallow water before making a presentation.

Overslot Redfish are in, big snook are here, lots of smaller tarpon in the 40lb class, snapper and goliath grouper are still plentiful. Lots of sharks and even some sawfish.

Naples inshore fishing in August is as interesting as it is hot! The hot summer spawning activity of the snook is slowing down, but there are plenty of big ones still around, as they spread out from the passes into their usual haunts. What gets interesting, is the big redfish start to show up with more predictability as they begin to gather up for their on spawning fun in the fall. In addition to the gamefish, the are lots and lots of mangrove snapper at just about every spot we fish, that can quickly load up the cooler and cleaning...
Naples inshore fishing for big snook in August, means fishing with big chunk of freshly cut threadfin herring, ladyfish, or mullet, under the mangroves, and patience. These fish will often stare at a piece of bait for a while, before finally decide to slurp it up. They are lazy, and want it fresh. if the angler is impatient, and keeps tugging and making the bait move, they will not eat it. Big fish know chunks of cut bait aren’t supposed to move! There are also plenty of snook in the passes, and under docks and other deep cutes, These fish want a nice medium sized pilchard or pinfish fed into their ambush point. There is nothing like that distinct thump when a snook hits that live bait!

Big sharks are all over the back country. A freshly cut bloody bait usually won't last very long in the warm waters. Toss one out, and an outrageous drag ripping battle is sure to follow suit.
Whether you want to eat fresh snapper, battle snook, reds, tarpon, or get in the ring with a big bull or lemon shark, July is ready to provide the challenge.

Naples Inshore Report for the first 2 weeks of June has been a been a mixture of great fishing, great eating, and refreshing rains! For anyone wanting to get a mess of fish for the table, we have been skipping shrimp and small pilchards in the mangroves for mangrove snapper. It hasn't been uncommon to get 30 fish in a trip that we could sort through for 10-15 to bring home. Redfish, snook, trout and jack crevalle are mixed in these catches.

For those fishermen into catching bigger spirtier fish, the big snook and big redfish are eating the bigger baits, and cut baits in the mangroves, and around all the passes. There are some true trophy fish to be caught, but remember, snook are out of season, and any redfish must be under 27 inches to be a keeper.
For the pure sportsman, tarpon and sharks you d out, perhaps, the best month of the year to catch the trophy of a lifetime.
So if you wanna eaten, or just catch em, set up a trip and let's go get em!
