The fishing has been decent. There's a biomass of trout in the bay right now and they're hungry the water temps are equalizing and thusly the snook have started bighting again the red fish we were blessed with a few weeks ago have seemingly left, mackerel in the outer bay and gulf are chewing the bottom paint off and if you can make it out there the cobia are bighting in the gulf. Around town small snapper can be found pretty easy and plenty of Jack action as well.

These beasts were landed just after hurricane Ian ran through. We headed out early on the day after land fall. Pilchards had moved into the creaks by the thousands making for easy bait opportunities. These beasts were landed just after hurricane Ian ran through. We headed out early on the day after land fall. Pilchards had moved into the creaks by the thousands making for easy bait opportunities. After one throw we loaded up on jumbo razors . Then headed to some wrecks just passed the reefs in Islamorada. The water was milky but calm , stirred up from the week of high winds . On the first drift we hooked the first monster on one of the lighter rods with a 20 pound leader . After a nearly 20 min battle we were finally gaining back line . Finally we made it to the weight and I Began carefully hand lining the fish to the boat . Finally after we got the gaff in angler and Captain both let put a sigh of relief followed by the crack of several high fives between all aboard the Papa Jack 4 ! Best part is second drop we boated a second pompano shortly after . This time rigged a bit heavier ! Between the multiple cold fronts and north to North west winds . It has made for perfect condition for targeting shallow water mutton's . We have had several double digit keeper mutton trips and even seeing a few over 20 pounds . Additionally having shots at everything from red grouper , Goliath grouper , lane snapper , and mackerel in between mutton's bites. Keeping the box full of variety and keeping anglers rods bent. We also had a few gulf trips later in the month in beautiful calm seas . Where the Spanish mackerel run has kept drags screaming and everyone with a perm-a grin ! In addition to jumbo mangroves , and even some Cobia opportunities. Over all the new year has been full of great action and many memories made aboard the Papa Jack 4. We looked forward to seeing what the rest of this winter season has to offer !

We had a blast with Drake and Trey on our iguana hunt. They both were extremely accommodating with our boys and both worked really hard to put us on iguanas all night. We ended with 21 and had chances at plenty more. I highly recommend

Captain Larry took our Girls’ Trip ladies out for an afternoon cruise. We spent time leisurely snorkeling beautiful reefs then relaxing on the sand bar. The time went too quickly but we never felt rushed. Larry was very friendly and accommodating to our group.

Kevin was an amazing guide. He was very knowledgeable and provided easy step by step instruction instructions while fighting 2 - 5 foot lemon sharks in less than 1/2 hour before daylight faded. Both were unkooked boat side with great video and pictures. His boat is clean and organized making it safe and easy to move around the boat while battling a catch of a lifetime for 2 Wisconsinites. Thanks Kevin. See you soon.

We had an amazing time iguana hunting! There were thunderstorms in the distance when we arrived, and I honestly thought the trip would be canceled—but our guides, Wesley and Matt, knew exactly what they were doing. We never got a single drop of rain and they spotted way more iguanas than we ever would have on our own. The only thing I’d do differently is bring my own flashlight. They had plenty to share, but not enough for everyone to have one at the same time. Highly recommend this adventure!
