Winter is not over, so look no further because here is your sure cure for cabin fever! With sudden warming trends, we have seen some good BWO and Little Winter Stones attracting fish to the surface for some dry fly action. When there is no visible rising fish, we can always fall back on nymphs on a dry dropper rig or two or three nymphs dropped under an indicator. I certain conditions, the streamer enthusiast can trigger some "t-bone" strikes from some heavier predatory trout.

Reds are chewing and happy when sun is out. Stripers are the go to on cloudy days. I haven't been out on the water too much so as of late it has been so nasty out.

BWO's, Little Winter Stones and Cream midges are standard hatches during the winter months offering some dry fly action if the wind lays down. If we have higher winds dead drifting larger nymphs under an indicator or stripping streamers to punch into the gusty conditions. ❄️😊

Fishing on Lanier has been pretty good most days. Fish are in their usual patterns. Most day feeding on small threadfin. Trout and herring and shiners tend to be the go to. The Bite for me seems to get better as the day progresses. Water temp is in the low to mid 40s. Finding the high concentrations of bait is key to success. Down lines free lines and boards. Don't be afraid to bump banks and docks big fish use the shallower water to warm. Using Mini Mac's is also a key trolling 1.3 mph 40 feet behind the boat...

Water flows exiting the Buford Dam is hovering at 50-53 so even though we are experiencing cooler air temperatures the fish are happy and active all winter long because of our unique thermocline in Lake Lanier. Consistent dry fly in the afternoons with hatches of Little Winter Stones, BWO's and Midges. Post spawn activity with the brown trout still aggressive on nymphs and streamers.

Lake Sidney Lanier has stratified making for cool clear water flowing from Buford Dam. Big browns are on the prowl with the fall spawn winding down. Streamer action should be good all this winter . Winter hatches of BWO's , Little Winter Stones and midges should bring some rising pods of trout to the surface.

One of the bigger redfish from today. Redfish bite has been really good. Caught 43 on a four hour this afternoon from 12 to 34 inches. Should be plenty of slot limit fish in a couple of weeks. Shark bite is wide open. Bunches of 3 to 5 footers with a lot of 6 to 8 footers.

Shorter days and cooler weather will trigger aggressive spawning behavior with the brown trout this November through January with specimen trout to the net. Streamer fishing will just get better as the Winter progresses. Also some really good BWO mayfly hatches will brings pods of fish to the surface most afternoons making for some consistent dry fly action.

Scheduled a trip and a storm was blowing in on the day of the trip and Captain James reached out and rescheduled with a day that worked perfect for my family. On the new day it was really choppy and we thought we was just going to have to fish close to shore but then it calmed down and we got to go out deep. Very first fish we caught was a sail fin fish I always dreamed of catching then we caught 2 barricade and a king fish. We hooked what looked like a great white shark that we fought for over 2 hours and it jumped out of the water and broke the line but it was huge biggest shark I ever seen in person and I live in Florida! Overall the trip was a great day with an experienced and friendly Captain and Mate that even helped our 8 year old fight t he shark for 15 minutes building a memory he would never forget! I will book all future trips with Captain James Walker. Great Captain and great man I could not have asked for anyone better than him and his first mate (his son also). If you want a memorable trip tell them what you want and they will do thier best to make it happen! Thank you Captain James for some awesome memories!

Legit 5 Stars. Billy’s knowledge of the area was second to none and he took time to educate us on the process from baiting to reeling in. We averaged a shark about every 20 minutes. He also was extremely patient working with my younger son. Will definitely come back!

Captain Willy was fun and energetic! We weren’t able to find the Red drum that we were after but did catch a few sharks. His paylist, fun attitude and personality made the trip for our group of 6 one to remember!
