The dry fly bite has been excellent. Trout can be caught on a myriad of flies as all insects are present. Stoneflies, mayflies, caddis and terrestrial imitations will catch fish throughout the day. If you are out at an odd time when trout don't want to rise add a small/simple dropper fly below your dry. Majority of the hatching bugs are on the small end of the spectrum with some larger mayflies showing up in the evening. The Appalachian slam (brook, brown, and rainbow trout) is still very achievable on most days. Several customers have landed theirs on half day outings since June. Be sure to keep an eye on the weather as afternoon thunderstorms can pop up quickly. For me, lightning is a quick time out,
but heavy winds can be scary under a dense canopy.
Chattahoochee Tailwater Fly Fishing
The tailwater below Lanier is still a good bet for a shorter day on the water. The normal patterns of midges and junk flies are still catching most of the trout. The recent rains we have had have thrown a bit of a curveball at the trout but with the right adjustments you can still do well. Bigger flies or small streamers have been fishing well in the lowlight hours. For a break in the trout action, bigger groups of bass than normal have also been gathering at the mouths of creeks once water levels in the feeder creeks reside.

Scheduled a trip and a storm was blowing in on the day of the trip and Captain James reached out and rescheduled with a day that worked perfect for my family. On the new day it was really choppy and we thought we was just going to have to fish close to shore but then it calmed down and we got to go out deep. Very first fish we caught was a sail fin fish I always dreamed of catching then we caught 2 barricade and a king fish. We hooked what looked like a great white shark that we fought for over 2 hours and it jumped out of the water and broke the line but it was huge biggest shark I ever seen in person and I live in Florida! Overall the trip was a great day with an experienced and friendly Captain and Mate that even helped our 8 year old fight t he shark for 15 minutes building a memory he would never forget! I will book all future trips with Captain James Walker. Great Captain and great man I could not have asked for anyone better than him and his first mate (his son also). If you want a memorable trip tell them what you want and they will do thier best to make it happen! Thank you Captain James for some awesome memories!
Legit 5 Stars. Billy’s knowledge of the area was second to none and he took time to educate us on the process from baiting to reeling in. We averaged a shark about every 20 minutes. He also was extremely patient working with my younger son. Will definitely come back!
Will did a great job and delivered everything we asked! Put us on the fish immediately and we all had fun! We kept him busy the entire time taking fish off the hooks! Highly recommended.
Fishing with Nick was great! Put us on some fish and we pulled in some nice spotted bass along with strippers. Definitely would recommend Nick and we look forward to our next opportunity to fish with Nick.
Captain Willy was fun and energetic! We weren’t able to find the Red drum that we were after but did catch a few sharks. His paylist, fun attitude and personality made the trip for our group of 6 one to remember!
The guys had an excellent shark adventure with Captain Will! They're already trying to get me to book another trip! He was a great time for the teens, their dad, and even grandpa!
