Strong fishing here at Wrightsville Beach, we've caught some great flounder including one fish weighing 8 lbs today. Speckled trout fishing will be world class in the weeks to come, some large reds and still some flounder.

The Cooler weather has the redfish biting good as well as plenty of Spanish mackerel casting to feeding surface fish and trolling Clark spoons.

Still kind of rough (windy) out but caught some decent fish today. Amberjacks, red snapper, seabass and let a huge sandbar shark go. Soon the weather will be perfect for all kinds of anglers.

A few Atlantic bonita still linger around at Wrightsville beach. Spanish mackerel fishing is as strong as new rope. Plenty for everyone but, fish are mostly on the smaller side. The first few flounder of the year have been getting caught mostly on plastics while trout fishing. Speckled trout fishing is pretty good right now with a chance of catching a very big female. Keeping them is discouraged, but for the person that loves a chance at a big one, spend your time early on top water in the next several weeks. Red drum are starting to bite better up...

The first few flounder of the year have been getting caught mostly on plastics while trout fishing. Speckled trout fishing is pretty good right now with a chance of catching a very big female. Keeping them is discouraged, but for the person that loves a chance at a big one, spend your time early on top water in the next several weeks. Red drum are starting to bite better up and down the inter coastal waterway and near shore creeks, with the coming of the the mullet run that usually kicks off in late May or June. You can expect it to get really good once the bait come down the waterway. There will be great catch and release fishing for flounder and people who do not care to take fish home. King mackerel fishing should pick up in the next several weeks along near shore beaches and with the hopes of big menhaden schools on the beach. There could be good cobia opportunity.

    Captain Drew took us out on a fantastic half day inshore trip. I took my son (9 y/o) and one of my buddies from college. His boat was super clean and well equipped for our charter. He had all the tackle we needed for successful time on the water. This guy knows how to fish: within 10 minutes of getting to our first spot, we already had a fish on the line: an over slot red drum. The second drum was a keeper and Drew kindly fileted it for us afterward (red drum grilled on the half shell is now one of my favorites). We moved to a few different spots throughout the morning and all together we caught about 9 fish. We let all but one go. Captain Drew really knows these waters and he was able to cater to more novice anglers and kids (my son and i) as well as more experienced anglers (my buddy) on the same trip. If i make it back to the carolina coast again, I would absolutely book Captain Drew
