Salmon on the Nehalem river is producing! Crabbing has been awesome and when we can make it out to go bottom fishing it's been phenomenal. And don't forget steelhead is coming up in January so get out there and fish on!

Trip: Oregon Crabbing Trip

Our crabbing trip exceeded my expectations. Craig's boat had comfortable seats. He offered us high quality lightweight life jackets (the blow-up kind). He told us the ocean was relatively calm and asked if we wanted to leave the bay and go out there. We did. He instructed us how to drop the crab pots, then entertained us (and our 4-year-old granddaughter) while we waited before checking the pots. We saw sea lions on a buoy; saw hundreds of jellyfish; learned about air bladders on fish like canary rockfish. our granddaughter got to view the radar screen showing where fish were. A first for any of our family: We caught our limit of crab, which Craig worked with my two sons to clean and cook for us. I felt completely safe with Craig. He is very knowledgeable and responsible; answered all my questions ahead of time. A wonderful, memorable day, well worth setting out before dawn.

He treated us with respect and did not hesitate when we ended the trip early so we could use the restroom. My mom, girlfriend and I had fish for months by the end of our trip.

When I moved to Oregon from Chicago 3 years ago, one of the “must do’s” was catch my first fish. Thanks to the instruction and encouragement from Captain Bryan, the fruits of this Labor Day trip resulted in reeling in a 17 lb salmon. I was thrilled. Our final cache for the day-one super salmon and 17 crab. Highly recommend this trip for to beauty of the bay, peek at the ocean, and a great combination of fishing and crabbing. We’ve already planned an ocean Coho trip on return. Captain Bryan was the perfect combination of encouraging, entertaining, and an excellent teacher. Counting the days until we can do it again!

Couldn’t ask for anything more. Captain Rod worked out trip around the weather and accommodated an extra person. Super knowledgeable and willing to educate us about everything we encountered during our charter with him. He knew exactly how and where to target salmon and we limited out! We will return and we will definitely request Rod for our guide. Highly recommend using Captain Rod for a successful, enjoyable and entertaining adventure!

Caleb was absolutely amazing. A thoughtful and responsible communicator and a wonderful host. He tried his best to help us all land a salmon! I do not recommend Captain Experience, however. Their website incorrectly listed prices and availability of people. Also the trip we booked wasn’t event for the area we thought we were going, although we rolled with it.
