The spring migration of bait and the gamefish that follow the bait as it influxes into the Lower Laguna Madre is starting now. Catching solid redfish and speckled trout on both artificial baits and fresh cut bait. The windier days in the spring can make for some productive redfish trips. That wind gets everything stirred up and those redfish get hungry. Catching speckled trout along shallow bars next to deeper water transitions, as the sun gets higher those specks will tend to move into adjacent deeper waters. Try natural looking plastics that resemble the real bait. Fresh ballyhoo and mullet...

Month of May means east winds. Clear clean water is being pushed in from the Gulf, bringing in trophy size jack crevalle on the troll as well as king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, and bonita fish.
Other fish coming in are big red drum and speckle trout on live finger sized mullet.
