Redfish and trout are starting to make their way onto the flats as they warm up in the midday sunshine. We are seeing a mass of bait push its way north from the land cut and Baffin Bay into the upper Laguna which will mean shorter runs in the boat and more fishing time!

Been wading and drift fishing with lures and live shrimp, sheep head are in with live shrimp on the bottom along the jetties and Packrey Channel!

As the water temperatures rise fish will become more aggressive making it much easier for us to pin point a feeding pattern.
Redfish and keeper sized black drum have been the target species these last few weeks. Fresh dead shrimp has been the bait of choice for the black drum. Some days they prefer the shrimp completely peeled. Always give that a try if they don't seem to like it with the shell on.

Fishing has been great around rocks and structure. Popping Cork and shrimp with 4 Horseman popping corks have been the key. Also shrimp rigged on bottom with a jig head for drum.

Well with this bipolar south Texas winter weather the fishing has been anything but consistent. That being said a lot of fishing guides are having trouble finding and keeping the fish patterned. But never the less I have been giving it 100% every chance I have had to get on the water.

Lot of trouts around 16 inches in 4 to 6 feet of water and water temperature is 64. Look for oil slick.
